The recipes, from Akron Beacon Journal readers, were collected from 1932 through 1943. The book contains recipes as diverse as War Cake and the Martha Washington Omelet to the common Coffee Cake and Pot Roast with Vegetables. A new introduction provides context for the recipes and gives a brief history of the era. Also, a photo section highlights the scenes of the times.
