Got a lemon. However, Haier portable A/C's are great units
Unit would not cool down. Had to return unit to my local Target store. The return process was easy. We have 2 other Haier 12,000 BTU A/C units that work great. We just happen to get one that was a lemon. It happens. Have already ordered a replacement Haier 14K A/C.

The unit is working perfectly so far. We have had 90 degree days and with a 5000 btu window unit in the bedroom, it keeps the house at a comfortable 74 degrees. It is no noisier than a window unit and much easier to install. The one thing I don't like is that the window panel is a bit flimsy.

Good product. Efficient and good looking
Mine arrived yesterday. This morning I installed the window panel which was easy. I had to cut down the small insert piece because my window is only 26" wide and sliding the insert piece to fit blocked one of the outlets. It now fits great. I called customer service and was able to get someone on the phone within a minute. He advised that cutting the insert if necessary is normal. The knack with this kit is to make sure the flexible hoses are configured and bent so not to cause strain either at the top, bottom, left or right. If you don't get it right, it will pull the hose nozzle away from the frame. I used the foam provided to install plus some of my own to get a really good seal. I then switched the unit on and WOW. It is great. I installed it in my garage after having insulated both garage doors really well. Part of the garage is used as a music studio so I am hoping this will do the trick. It is a bit small for the size of the garage to be fair but it is the largest portable A/C unit I could find. If it struggles, I will simply open the door to my kitchen which will help. It is a little noisy but I wont notice that for my purposes. It might become annoying in a smaller room in a home. I mainly bought this model as a dehumidifier that can evaporate the moisture through a vent. Didn't want to use a hose drain. De-humidifiers produce heat so this will be the best of both worlds for me....So far so good this afternoon - day 1 - but to day has only been 78 degrees. Lets see how it performs when it hits over 100......... (Raleigh, North Carolina)

Gets the job done
I live in a hi-rise condo in south Florida. When the building air conditioning was out of service for repairs, I bought this unit and it performed very well. I had to adapt the window panel to fit in the slider 8' high opening. I found the unit was more efficient by connecting only the exhaust hose to the window panel, blocking the 2nd opening with the included cover, and allowing the air inlet to recirculate room air. The documentation could be better and one of the nozzles was broken which was not an issue as I did not use it. However, I have requested a replacement in case the one good nozzle breaks.

Unit is awesome but there is lots of buts here
I had the same unit for 7 years worked perfect
I purchased a new one 14,000 3 weeks ago
a major problem keeps shutting down cause the inside container is not enough to hold all this water evaporating so what I did is went to home depot purchased a clear hose then I went to ikea purchsed a table
I put the AC on thast table then to Bed bath beyond bought a big wide pail
attached tube to back of unit and put it in the pail and every morning I have to dump about 4 gallons of water YES it is true 4 gallons of water
in the toilet
now as far as the hoses you put on the windows they keep falling off I tried so many things again I had to go through bunch different things to fix the hose both of them the ends are cheap quality
I can go on
the LED blue lighting is great except it light up the whole room so I got some notepads and covered it and scotched tape it
funny how I handled that situation
I guess HAIER corporation should contact me to pay me for this review I would take $1000 please call me so I can give you my address to send me a cheque.
BTW I am in Canada and purchased the unit from Best Buy in Edmonton, Alberta
my e-mail is email@example.com if in case

It leaks and won't cool if 100 + degrees outside.
We ordered the unit 7/6 & it arrived 7/11/2013. Very heavy, we take it upstairs 7/12 and 7/13 it takes all morning to put the hoses in the window - not easy. Plug it in and it won't turn on. Turns out what I thought was the on off switch on the unit - is the remote. The unit cannot be manually turned on, you must use the remote. I put in the batteries and turn it on.
The first few days are great. It is cooling great, cold, cold, cold.
Then 105 degrees (Northern CA# and now the bedroom #15' x 20'# won't cool below 87 degrees. This goes on for 7 more days, HEAT WAVE. 7/21 I walk over to the unit and step into soggy carpet, auto evaporation isn't working.
I get the hose and try to empty the unit. Nothing comes out. It is not holding any water, just dumping it onto my floor. Time to get the wet vacuum out and clean up that mess. Get plastic down on the floor under the machine and it is leaking too much to keep up with.
We had to turn it off and we are returning it. I am disappointed. It seemed too good to be true and it was. Very Sad. :#
