Hamilton Beach FlexBrew® 2-Way Coffee Maker- 49983 is rated 2.75 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best we've ever had! Everything performs extremely well. Taste is fine--those with problems may not have cleaned it properly before using, or it may have been improved since then. Functions are easy to see, easy to set. It's the best coffee maker I can remember in MANY years and a great value. It does have a light-weight, possibly you could say "cheap" feel to the body, but can't find fault with the performance and price!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wanted to lIke this product...but just can't! Had machine for week now and will return today. Like most other reviews I also experienced the 'strong plastic smell/taste' and attempted to wash and clean with vinegar (per the instructions) the plastic parts of the unit, but the problem persists. So far I haven't experienced any other issues (slow brew time, malfunctioning single-brew, etc.) however seems many of those issues occur within 3-6 months. The fatal flaw is the horrible chemical smell/taste...I am afraid this can't be healthy at all! I wish another manufacturer would make the same (higher quality) product as the concept is a great idea! Will stick with two separate machines I guess...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Loved it! Then HATED it!!! Bought it with a gift card from our wedding. We thought it was a great idea and at the time it had good reviews online. Had it for 1 year and today it stopped working in the middle of a full pot brew. It had been acting up the past couple of weeks on the single-serve side of the machine, but today it just went kaput. The coffee machine I had before I got married (a simple Mr. Coffee which cost me like $20) lasted for years and I only got rid of it because my new wife and I were going to get something new. In hindsight, I should have kept the old Mr. Coffee and bought a separate single-serve machine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Went from love to hate in 6 months... I really loved this coffee machine when I first bought it to replace my ksinlge serve maker and regular coffee maker to save space in my kitchen. 6 months later i turned it on as usual and water came out the bottom of the coffee maker. I googled it and found a common problem for this coffee maker specifically. Considering its price do yourself a favor and just stick with a single serve AND a coffee maker if you would like both. Of course I didn't keep receipt so I'm not bothering with warranty.... Good luck!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth it I bought this 2 weeks ago. It's been fairly difficult to get it to work properly from the beginning. It wouldn't spit out all the cup of coffee on the individual side all the time. Then yesterday it stopped working all together. I put the water in but it won't come out...it will leak out the full pot side though. I tried multiple times. I will be returning this tomorrow. Very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from so far so good 3 days in So far I'm relatively pleased with this particular coffee pot. Granted I only have the pot for two days and I have used all features and so are all of them continue to work it out worked as I expected. I will keep you updated as time goes on or as any issues may or may not come up, I will continue to post as well but so far I feel like I got to deal with my purchase

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst coffee maker ever If you want a pot of coffee this is fine but takes forever and is noisy. If you want the single cup it does not work. Ours stopped after 6 cups and now water goes everywhere. Sent email to Hamilton Beach and no answer after two weeks. Total waste of money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Returned Within Hours We bought this product because we wanted the flexibility of using our own coffee in both the carafe and in the single cup as well as being able to have the variety of the K cup. The Keurig 2.0 was not an option because it does not allow the ability to brew your own coffee in the carafe (or the single cup without the YouTube hacks) because of the new DRM - you have to use the K-Carafe cups. We thought the Hamilton Beach provided the best of both worlds but we were disappointed after the purchase. The first time we used the carafe, we added 12 cups of water. Only 11 cups were brewed. It took approximately 1 minute per cup of water until it got to 10 minutes or 10 cups of coffee. At about 10 minutes, it sputtered and steamed like crazy to the point that there was so much steam that the front display was dripping wet and we had to wipe it off so we could see it! Also, the underside of our cabinets were so wet that water was dripping from the cabinets and the paper towels were drenched trying to clean it all up! One pot filled to 11 cups and sputtered and steamed for a full 18 minutes! We returned it and bought the Keurig 40. It only allows single cup brewing, but we can use our own coffee or K Cups, it brews quick, it doesn't ruin your cabinets, and it doesn't have DRM. Our Hamilton Beach was clearly defective. Note: Many have complained about the smell but we did not notice that when we tried brewing on the carafe side. PROS: -Carafe or Single Serving Size -K cup or your own coffee -Coffee was 180 degrees when brewed in carafe CONS: -Takes forever to brew a pot (18 min) -Steamed so much it will warp cabinets -Entire unit was dripping wet when done cycling
