Holmes Large Low Profile Heater - Black is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it [...]I must warn, the unit does get hot so it is not wise to have it near plastic or anything that can melt, and ensure- if you have children- that they treat it like a stove. The expose portion where the heat emits, get extremely hot, perfect for gloves and sock, but not little hands. I did have the heater around my child when she was crawling around she didn't bother it. Also I used the heater in a Living room/ Dining space, warmed it perfectly. I will repeat the unit does get hot so be careful. But doesn't take long to cool down, well under 5 minutes. Sadly I don't have the unit, but I will be purchasing a new one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great heater, great quality! We bought this heater as it was on [...] at end of season in one of the Target stores by us. We have used this heater now for two winter seasons and it's still as if brand new. We have been using this heater in place of the wood-burning fireplace in our living room for heat. The living room by itself measures roughly 185' x 236 then add an open dining room and kitchen to that and this heater nicely warms the entire living, dining and kitchen areas. The heat projected is a natural warmth, not an overbearing dry heat as some radiant heaters we have used in the past. Virtually no sound comes from this appliance while running, except an occasional barely audible hum before it reaches its warmth setting and we keep ours on medium high. It has a thermostat that maintains our level of heat continually. This is definitely the heater for us. Our heaters and fireplace are our main sources of heat for our home also, so we are more than pleased with the quality of this heater from Holmes. We are definitely planning on purchasing additional heaters like this to use as the primary heat source in the bedrooms of our home too.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hazard Had two of these the first one would not turn off. Target exchanged it for me. The second one, did the same only this time it started smoking. This item can be dangerous. Good when you first get it, not good after a couple months. Save your money for something else.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from GARBAGE, TRASH, POS, WASTE OF MONEY!!!!! Bought this item because the one I wanted was out of stock and i desperately needed a heater. No soon than I toss the receipt does this thing break down. Had it for LESS than one month before it broke. Being the Electrical Engineer that I am and the fact that I already threw away the receipt I took the unit apart to see why the power switch suddenly broke and see if I could repair it. Found out that the unit is so cheap that the power switch casing that houses the controls for the off, low and high setting was made out of PLASTIC!!!!! After leaving the unit on for more than 4 hours on high the housing MELTED!!!!! Don't waste your money on this!!!!I will never buy another Holmes Heater again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quite but slow heating I got this for a medium size room. I tried to avoid fan based electric heaters because of the noise. I found this one which is extremely quite. However, it took forever to heat up if to use medium setting, but tripped my switch using high setting. Because it is so quite, it was left on in several occasions for a whole day. It is hard to control the temperature by a knob that requires a lot of testing. One time, the room was about a few degrees F warmer than other unheated rooms when indoor temp was about low 60s, even I accidentally left it on for overnight!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE!! i bought this because my old heater had broken. I bought similar ones like this one in the past, and it is smaller than the previous ones i had. I thought it wouldn't be as good, but.. IT IS! It also is very light. I had no problems with mine. I usually keep it on the low setting and turn the other dial about half way, and it heats the room perfectly. It heats up quick, and within 30 or so mins the room is comfortably nice and warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We Like It!!! We have had this heater for a year and love it. We have not had any problems with it but I do not turn the dials on all the way up. I am guessing this might be why some people have had problems. You should be able to turn them all the way up but we have never needed to. It heats our bedrooms and living areas just fine on a lower setting where it heats up turns off, cools down and heats up again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A little bit scary... Came home from being out for the day and found that the heater was on... even though the knob was pointed to the off position. Tried turning the knob and it made an electric sounding crackling noise. Had to unplug it to get it to turn off.
