I needed a solution for highlighting our house numbers without having to run electrical wire due to limited attic space and a lack of enthusiasm about crawling around in the attic during scorching hot Summer months. This seemed like it would be a good solution and it has worked out very well. While it is a little dim (most solar powered lighting is to me), it still accomplishes the task I had in mind for it. I would definitely recommend it to others as it is a much simpler solution than a wired address light. I do like the look of it (gunmetal grey), but I wish it did come in more colors to more closely match the limestone that I attached it to. Installation was easy and I don't see the battery change as being much of an issue at all. All in all, very pleased with this purchase!

I have a masonry home address number block, which was inset within the regular brick wall of our house, at the time of construction. I wanted a way to illuminate this house number block during the night, in case visitors, fire, or police needed to clearly see and verify our address. I scanned the internet for and found this product was sold by many vendors, but chose to purchase from Target, in case there were any after-sale difficulties since we have a local store. It was shipped and received quickly. I read the instructions, charged the batteries for two days and mounted the light above the address block. I did a preliminary location at night, to give me an idea how well the light would illuminate the block. The next day I centered and marked for the anchor insets and screws and mounted the light to the front of the house. That night I adjusted the swivel to direct the light to show on the block. I walked out to the street to look back at the lighted numbers and it worked very well. The address number block is now illuminated, easily seen from the street and lasts all night. Mission accomplished. NOTE: Since the ON/OFF switch is protected by a weatherproof rubber boot cover, I found it difficult to slide it into positon. I just removed the battery cover, which houses the rubber cover, moved the switch to where I wanted it and replaced the battery cover. I considered this a minor inconvenience, since it will be in the ON position all the time.

Thanks to a drunk driver, my mailbox was totally obliterated on New Year's Eve, January, 2010. I purchased this solar light approximately one year ago and had it installed on my newly constructed masonry mailbox. This light mounted above the stone address plaque, and below my locking mailbox nicely. I have been very impressed with the amount of light that illuminates in the evening. The solar mailbox light that was attached to my previous mailbox was very dim, and did not really have any functi onal value. I waited to comment on this purchase, especially after reading how some had problems with their lamps. So far, a year + out, mine is functioning wonderfully.

I bought the address light because our house number is very hard to see. But not any more! This light was a snap to install. The photo cells require no wiring & my address is now easy to see.

It works for purpose, it secured easily to brick wall above number sign. I wish it was a little brighter and the light would last longer into the night. It is in full morning light until 1 pm, my other solar lights work fine with same exposure/charge time.

I am on my second one of these. The first one worked great for about 7 months, then it stopped. I removed the batteries and recharged them, and that worked for about one night. After trying several types of rechargeable batteries including those made especially for solar lighting, I emailed Whitehall who manufactures them. To their credit, they were very helpful and apologetic, and told me to send the light directly to them for examination and they would send me a new one immediately. A new lig ht arrived less than a week later. About 2 months transpired, and I received an email from Whitehall telling me they had taken the light apart, said I had done nothing wrong, and were at a loss to understand why the solar panel had failed. This new light lasted about 4 months and is doing the same thing. I'm not going to waste my time contacting them again. I have a couple solar lamps in my garden that I've had for years, and with a periodic recharging, have functioned for years. The address lamp is a great idea, so I'm surprised more companies don't offer one with greater longevity.
