The buzz: The Laneige Power Essential Skin Toner improves your skin’s tone and texture without sacrificing moisture.

The details: Toner has been long shunned by anyone with dry skin. Wrongly associated as just a tool in the arsenal against teenage breakouts, toners actually can help any skin type by removing the dead skin cells left behind after cleansing. Laneige’s Power Essential Skin gently exfoliates while still keeping skin hydrated, making it perfect for normal to dry skin. Use a cotton pad to apply after washing your face, making sure to avoid delicate skin around the eyes. Thanks to the water-based formula, this toner won’t leave your skin feeling stripped. While the toner does have a noticeable fragrance, we found that it quickly faded away.

The pro tip: Use toners to create a base before applying serums or creams. The moist layer allows active ingredients to penetrate skin more effectively. This is not true, however, for retinol treatments, which should only be applied to dry skin.
