I own several cast iron pots and pan and needed a larger skillet. The Lodge 12" skillet is perfect for frying chicken or other items that need room. The pre-seasoning made it ready to use upon arrival and it cleans easily with water and a brush, a coating of oil and wipe with a paper towel and it is ready to store for the next use. I give it 5 stars.I give Target 5 stars for good packing and quick delivery. I am VERY SATISFIED with this purchase. THANKS!

I was looking to replace my stainless steel skillets and I shop around online on every store including food net work. The prices were to high and I couldn't afford it. Some of the reviews were not good. I had a limited budget and wanted a good skillet for an affordable price. Finally I found Lodge. The price was right and the reviews were great. [...]This is my first cast Iron item. Cleaning is so easy. My previous stainless steel skillet was so hard to clean and had to soak in water over night . My husband kept saying we need to replace the skillet. I bought the 12" because I can cook about 5 steaks at a time or 3 steaks and spinach at the same time. I save time and Gas. I used this skillet about 7 times now and in good shape. Food taste great. I am so happy that I bought it.I would recommend this item to anyone. Also this product is made in USA so you don't have to worry [...]. I want to replace my balance stainless steel pots and looking for a Dutch oven 8Qt and a Grill. The great thing is if you have a skillet, Dutch oven and a Grill you can cook with three pans instead of so many pots. These skillets can go in the oven too. It is so easy and you don't need so much storage.

I got this iron skillet this summer and we have not stopped cooking on it ever since. You can cook it on top of grill, makes awesome steaks and home fries. The food always comes out so delicious and professinal looking. The home fries come out with a touch of crispiness something that a regular pan could not do for us. The more we use the better the food comes out because of the seasoning. Never use soap a brillo scrub, wipe it with luke water and wipe it with a paper towel.

Best purchase I have ever made. This pan rocks! I had been afraid to get one after watching my mother use one when I was growing up and how she fought with it.....this one is nothing like that...heck,, it practically cleans itself! Ive used it for pretty much everything since I got it - it cooks soooo much better then my teflon pans. I LOVE THIS PAN. (and the little handle mitt I purchased along with it, which you should get as well) The pre-seasoning is the key I think...and I wash off and re- oil after each use...I want the griddle next...(ive used this for pancakes and they are EXCELLENT, but i need the flat one to make them PERFECT.....Im sorry i waited so long to get one. Shipment was quick as well. Just good all around.

I love cooking in this skillet! Food always tastes fantastic, perfectly browned and without excessive greasiness. I loved this so much and ended up using it so often I bought TWO, it's THAT good. The cast iron really eliminates greasy tasting food, I'm not sure if it absorbs the excess grease or if the roughed surface lets it drain away. Either way, I fry almost everything in this skillet because I know I'm going to taste the food, not a greasy mess like with normal skillets. When properly seaso ned (see below for my care guidelines), this skillet is absolutely non-stick. I made cheesy eggs in it a few times, and the cheese melts onto the pan, but comes right up with the greatest ease (again, without excessive grease in the pan). This kind non-stick performance far exceeds any non-stick skillet I've ever used. Very impressive. An unfortunate property of cast iron is an unbelievable heat capacity. This pan takes a long time to heat up and even longer to cool down (an hour or more to get back to room temperature!). That also means it's about as responsive to changes in burner heat as a jumbo jet...which can be good or bad. You're unlikely to burn food because you'll never have a massive heat spike (I have NEVER burned food in this), but it can be annoying when you find you're cooking too hot and can't cool down quickly. Cast iron also lets you cook in unusual ways, like on a grill or even in a camp fire. The thing is just about indescructable. I sometimes run out of stove top space when I have a lot of things going at once (I'm sure everyone feels like that occasionally). So I toss my cast iron skillet on the grill and pan fry outside in the sunshine using the grill as my stove top. Beautiful! My Care Guidelines:Cast iron is not like other cookware, you never-ever-in-a-million-years use soap. Just wash it with water and a PAPER towel only. (no, water will not instantly turn your cast iron into a hunk of rust) Never use a scrubber of any kind, it will scrub away your seasoning. If the pan needs a more aggressive cleaning, sprinkle some table salt in it and scrub it with a paper towel, then rinse it with water. Put it over the burner on medium to dry off (it COULD rust if you let it air dry). You can then just oil it and put it away, or season it and put it away. Season it by heating it on high until it smokes, remove from heat and apply a generous coating of oil to the inside and let cool. Some people say to bake it in the oven, but I find it's much harder than the stove top method...and oddly enough, doesn't do a very good job. Its just about impossible to ruin a cast iron skillet...it's not even ruined if it's rusty. Just scrub off the rust with steel wool and re-season as described above...of course, the pan won't rust if you keep it oiled.

This was my first cast iron skillet and will be my only. It keeps it's seasoning, cooks beautifully, and heats evenly. For the price, it is certainly well worth it. I no longer use any of my regular non-stick skillets. I would definitely suggest it. As a newbie to cast iron cooking, I encountered my first small kitchen fire as I wasn't used to the heat it holds. But after cleaning it up it still cooked just as well as it did before (if not better than). I only wish it would have come with a lid . :) That would have saved me a new range hood...

I love my new skillet, this is my first cast iron and I'm so glad I finally got one. My brussell sprouts came out nicely charred with such little heat!! I could never get char and crisp with any other pan or grilling appliance. FYI, the store price is a few [$] higher than what they show you online. Also, "limited stock" seems to mean it is not in the store.

Great pan; I had looked for a long time for a 12" iron skillet and was happy to find one at Target. The craftmanship is great, the pan is heavy, holds heat wonderfully and fries chicken to a golden brown. I will be purchasing two more these pans; one for each of my daughters. Take care of this pan and it will last past your lifetime. Thanks Target; I love the pan!
