As with many products, this product will "work" for some and not for others. The first and biggest issue for me is the subpar ingredients. The cheap ingredients warrant a much cheaper price. The second issue is the effectiveness of the product. It has left a gummy texture on everyone's hair I have tried it on. It leaves a residue on your hair that is hard to wash out. Adding insult to injury, it dries with a "nice" crunch afterwards. It is also a poor choice if you want to "mist" your hair on the 2nd or 3rd day and then style afterwards. Overall, the ingredients are a no-no for anyone going natural and trying to grow their hair. [............................]

Out of all the products I used back when I was totally natural, this is the only one that makes my "real" hair moist, springy, soft and shiny with minimal effort. I'm now thinking of returning to my natural hair just because of this product!
This was the first product I tried in the Miss Jessie's line. I was initially ambivalent but my hair did react better with this product than with other products I had used. I continued to use it and began using more products in this line. I now use this in conjunction with [...] and am very pleased.

I have 4b hair and this gel left it gummy and tacky. It was mediocre when used correctly. I returned it and bought another (non-MJ) product which was MUCH better.
I bought this product because I heard good things about it. I have very curly/coiled hair. My hair is crunchy when I use Curling Pudding. I prefer Kinky Curly Curling Custard,(also sold at Target) my hair is not crunchy and I've gone as long as a week without having to reapply the product, just spritz in the morning with water. MJCP did define my curls, however, the crunchy feel was a definite drawback.
I have 4b hair. My hair is never dry, never brittle, never sounds like elastic popping when I comb it. I washed my hair, put my leave in conditioner in,I use WEN so it was NOT the shampoo I used as his products are excellent. I applied the Ms. Jessie's Curly Pudding to sections of my hair as directed. It left my hair gummy the day I did it, it did kind of elongate my curls in the back and throughout my hair as my hair is curly in the back and wavy the rest of the way through. The next day my ha ir was all shrunk up and brittle, a texture that I never experience even after sweating a whole week before I wash my hair. The smell is way too much as well. I don't like using a product that leaves my hair smelling like it. This product's smell is horrendous. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, human, K9, or feline.
I started using this product right after my big chop...I was not incredibly impressed with it on my hair texture while I was rocking my afro. It did bring out my curl pattern but it made my hair "crunchy". I would've rated it 3 stars back then...however, when I started locking, it became my five-star product! Used sparingly combined with the baby buttercreme, it is a phenomenal locking "gel"...It's light, dries clear, holds well without drying out and of course, it smells g reat! I bring MJCP to my stylists and they love using it!
I really wanted to like this stuff...Well...I did like the smell. No matter how I used it, it left white flakes. Yes. I did use their cleanser and conditioner because I did not want to mix products from different companies/lines. I needed moisture, shine, and a slight hold. I only received a a light hold and a lot of white residue. I've tried this product in small amounts on wet hair, damp hair, and dry hair. I even contacted the company's online chat site to assist. I still got bad results. No t sure what to do with two jars of Miss Jessie's products. For the record, my hair is type 4 with small ringlets prone to shrinkage. I was not trying to change from "kinks to curls" as stated on the jar...that statement is funny enough. I just wanted a good twist out.
