Many people are familiar Patricia Highsmith's work thanks to the filmic adaptations of her novels--Alfred Hitchcock used her book for the making of the psychological thriller STRANGERS ON A TRAIN in 1951, while younger audiences might recall the suspenseful THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jude Law. But the woman behind these twisted plotlines wrote a whole lot more, and this collection provides an excellent jumping off point for those interested in digging in deeper. Included in this anthology is Hitchcock's source material, as well as Highsmith's 1952 novel THE PRICE OF SALT, along with many of her most biting shorter pieces.
