Rated 2 out of 5 by from Turns Off Few Minutes into Pumping; Loud Clicking Noises Constantly I originally was SUPER excited when I was given this pump to re-lactate for our baby that will be here at the end of the year (via a family member as our surrogate due to infertility). The first two times I used it, I had absolutely NO problem with the pump minus a very loud almost clicking type noise that I hadn't heard a pump make before. I figured this was just how the pump worked and when reading reviews I have found that I am not the only one. After the first few times of using the pump, I have found that it will just out of the blue turn off and have the "on/off" button flashing. I have checked the power sources, made sure everything was connected properly and turned it off and back on (it requires you to in order to get it to work again) and sometimes it will work for the remainder of the time with no issue, while other times it does it 3-5 and sometimes even more than 7 times in one session! I am thinking that I will likely have to purchase a new pump and attempt to return this pump or get a refund from the Philips company for it (not sure if they will help me out or not, I would accept a new pump and see if it is just this pump and if the new one doesn't work, I will be requesting a full refund so that I can purchase a different pump) as I need a pump that will help me be able to re-produce milk and so far this one just isn't cutting it!! It is VERY important to me that my baby be on breastmilk and be able to not have to rely on her surrogate mommy for milk (and stay away from the bottles full time), so I am very dissapointed in this product so far. Which is a shame, as I love the Avent products, just not this pump. Fingers crossed that Philips is willing to work with me on this issue!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Avent Comfort Vs. Avent twin I previously had bought the Avent twin electric breast pump in May of 2013 to use for my third child. I recently had my fourth child and got this pump out to use again. It started making a loud clicking noise in the motor and the suction seemed reversed, like it was pushing air out instead of suctioning. I called as I still have the 24 month warranty. They sent me a new pump. When I received the new pump, it was the Avent comfort double electric pump. I called again, thinking there was a mistake. But, no mistake, they don't make the Avent twin electric anymore. I'm very disappointed to learn this. I've since been using the comfort double electric pump but unfortunately it doesn't measure up to the Avent Twin that I had previously. The Avent twin had a handle to where I could pump at my desired pace & suction and hit the button to pump automatically. With this new one, you get a let down button and 3 speed buttons. I have found that with this new one, the let down button does nothing for me. Neither does the first speed setting. I will start getting milk on the second speed setting, but it takes forever for my milk to start flowing. With the Twin electric pump, my milk would start flowing right away, within just a couple of pumps of the handle. The twin electric also expressed my milk much faster than the comfort double. I could get more milk in about half the time with the Twin electric. It's very unfortunate that Avent stopped making the twin. With the comfort electric, I'm only able to pump about half the milk (was pumping 4oz total with the twin, now pumping 1.5 MAYBE 2oz with the comfort double) in double the time with the comfort double. The comfort double is also MUCH louder than the twin was, even with the clicking noise the motor started making. With the comfort electric, I also have a hard time getting my breasts placed correctly to keep the suction. I had no issues with this with the twin. I'm not sure if the flanges are smaller, but they are shorter than the twin ones were.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Loses function after 2 months I'm a first time mom and was excited to use this pump for my little one. Unfortunately after two months it started losing suction, they did replace it though. Customer service was great. However after reading reviews I see that it's going to be an ongoing thing. Not only that but it's pretty loud and the baby sleeps next to me which at times wakes her up. I would have loved to keep the same pump for my next child but maybe next time I'll just go with the Medela

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low suction, poor quality I have been using the Comfort Double Electric Pump for almost 7 months. I bought this pump because reviews suggested that it was the most comfortable pump on the market and since it is a closed system, there was little to no chance of milk getting in parts that it isn’t supposed to get into. I have to agree that this pump is comfortable (I do only have one other pump to compare it to, but this pump is MUCH better). However, I have had some issues with my pump. I am currently on my third pump and just today had to place an order for replacement parts AGAIN. I was told today by the CSR that these pump pieces (specifically the valves) typically only last 3 months. She said that 90% of people have to have parts replaced on this time table. I am a first time mom but this seems a little crazy considering breastfeeding is recommended for 4 X’s this length of time! The customer service people have always been very kind and willing to send me new pumps and new pieces, but I worry about when we have a second child and the pump is no longer under warranty. While comfort is a huge benefit to a pump, unfortunately hands free pumping is also not an option for me with this particular pump. This pump has to be held firmly against you in order to maintain suction. Even then the suction isn’t that strong, especially if you have it for more than a month or two. I have been left with clogged and unemptied ducts on multiple occasions and had to leave work so I go nurse my LO so I wouldn’t get sick. The pump was supposed to help me go back to work full time but that doesn’t seem to be the case. I know if I could do this all over again, unfortunately I would not buy this pump.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Comfortable This product is comfortable and easy to use, and quiet compared to some other pumps. I would give it 5 stars, but my pump stopped working after 2 months of use. I called Customer Service and they are sending me a new pump due since the troubleshooting did not fix the pump. Customer Service was friendly and and easy to talk to. I just hope my 2nd pump does not have some of the same issues.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great design, features and compatibility! I am a first time mom and decided to buy this pump initally because of the compatibility with the Avent Natural Bottles. I really liked how simple, compact and modern the design was. I purchased the pump today but have not used it yet (only 31 weeks pregnant) so this review is more about design and features than actual use. Before purchasing this I had read some reviews saying that there wasn't an option to pump only one breast at a time and that the cord was short which did make me a little hesitant. Luckily I found out that you can use the pump on one breast at a time ('The twin electric breast pump enables you to express milk from both breasts at the same time. However, you can also use the appliance to express from one breast in just the same way' Page 11 of instructions) and thought the AC adapter and tubing were both an adequate length. As never having used a breast pump before the sound seemed moderate, not quiet but not loud while turned on. Some of the things I love: 1. How small the Pump Body is and not a lot of parts 2. It comes with the Massage Cushions (instead of hard plastic on your breast) 3. It comes with Sealing Discs 4. The bag that comes with is small and simple (one big pocket with a bottle pocket on each side of the interior) 5. You can use batteries (4 AA, gets you 3 hours of use, twist off the bottom on the Pump Body to access battery housing) 6. The silicone tubeing wraps around the Pump Body and the cap (at the end of the tubing) has a clip to snap that snaps onto the tube to hold it together neatly 7. When you register your product you can an extra 6 months from the manufactures warranty (ends of being 2.5 years instead of 2 years) 8. Adequate length on AC adapter and tubing 9. All of the buttons on the Pump Body light up (nice when using in low light/at night) 10. The tubing never comes into contact with expressed milk 11. You can use on one breast at a time I hope is love it just at much when it comes to the actual use

    BabyCenter Editors' review

    What it is
Moms have big love for this petite, portable breast pump.  For one thing, the actual pump is about the size of a pint of ice cream, and the case could easily pass for a stylish laptop bag. Tired moms also praise the easy set-up and intuitive operation. The pump automatically starts on a gentle "let-down" speed and then offers three additional suction speeds that you can control manually.

What sets this pump apart from similar models are the massage cushions – squishy plastic inserts that fit into the breast flange and increase suction while making the experience more comfortable. It is a helpful feature – and the suction is great. If you have sensitive breasts or find other pumps make you wince, this might be a great option.

    What to watch out for
Plug your ears, because this thing is loud. If your breasts are on the larger side, you may need to purchase a bigger set of cushions for proper fit.

    • Double Pump Design Saves Time

The Philips AVENT Comfort Double Electric Breast Pump saves you time by making it easy to pump milk from both breasts at the same time comfortably. Simultaneous pumping is not only more efficient than using a single pump, but may also boost your overall milk production.
    • Sit Comfortably Upright While You Pump

Unlike breast pumps that operate correctly only when you lean forward, the Philips AVENT Comfort Double Electric Breast Pump allows you to sit comfortably upright as you pump. The breast pump's angled neck lets milk flow naturally from breast to bottle while you relax. And when you're able to relax, it has a positive effect on your milk flow and quantity produced.

Easy Assembly and Three Operating Modes

To keep pumping simple, the Philips AVENT Comfort Double Electric Breast Pump offers the convenience of easy assembly and a customized experience. The breast pump has an uncomplicated design with few parts that are easily assembled. After you switch on the pump, it will automatically start in gentle stimulation mode to encourage letdown. You can then choose from three expression pump settings to find the one that's best for you.

      Massage Cushion Stimulates Milk Flow

The pump features a soft cushion with five textured petals intended to gently help stimulate milk flow. The cushion mimics your baby's natural suckling patterns to stimulate milk flow and make pumping more comfortable.

This cushion fits a majority of moms, but a larger size is also sold separately.

Includes New Natural Bottle and Natural Nipple

To help prevent wasted milk, the collection container that connects to the pump also works as a bottle with the included natural, breast-shaped nipple. This nipple makes transitioning between breast and bottle easier by encouraging comfortable latch-on.
    • Compact, Portable Design

This breast pump's space-saving design means you won't struggle with bulky parts or too many wires and tubes. Its compact base can be placed within arm's reach for convenient operation, and when you're done pumping, the tube wraps around the base for easy storage or portability.

Continue Breastfeeding, Even On the Go

The Philips AVENT Comfort Double Electric Breast Pump is compatible with Philips AVENT products, including Natural and Classic bottles and milk storage containers, which means that you can pump whenever and wherever you need to and save milk for later use. When it's time for cleanup, all non-electric parts can be sterilized in any Philips AVENT steam sterilizer or washed in the dishwasher.

      BPA Free and Sanitary

The Philips AVENT Comfort Double Electric Breast Pump has a sanitary design that prevents your milk from ever coming in contact with the tubing. The pump, bottles, nipples, and cushions are all BPA free.

      Warranty Information

The Philips AVENT Comfort Double Electric Breast Pump is backed by a two-year warranty.
