  • Bring audio and video to life

Hi-Fi stereo VHS enhances audio playback
Hi-Fi Stereo VHS plays back true stereo VHS
  • Progressive Scan component video for optimized image quality
Progressive Scan doubles the vertical resolution of the image resulting in a noticeably sharper picture. Instead of sending a field comprising the odd lines to the screen first, followed by the field with the even lines, both fields are written at one time. A full image is created instantaneously, using the maximum resolution. At such a speed, your eye perceives a sharper picture with no line structure.
  • Dolby Digital Stream Out
Dolby Digital, the world's leading digital multi-channel audio standard, makes use of the way the human ear naturally processes sound. With Dolby Digital you experience superb quality surround sound audio with realistic spatial cues.
  • Easy to set up and use

Direct Dubbing for easy transfer of videos from DVD to VCR
Having a Direct Dubbing button allows for the user to start recording from the DVD disc without complicated menu system selection or input/output selection for separates.

Excellent product at great price!

I can use my old VHS tapes, and play my DVDs also. I LIKE the versatility of being able to record to DVDs, or VHS tapes. Easy to use. I also own the older model whose VCR started malfunctioning after several years. Cheaper to buy the new model instead of repairing.

unhappy with unit

It is very hard to use. I had to have someone come and show us how to use it and write down the directions. I have never had one as hard to use as this one.

Great product from Philips, yet again!

This wasn't a recent purchase for me. Philips products last is why!! I wouldn't trade it for anything as it has the best features and ease of use on the market today!!

Quality of playback

The quality of the playback is awful. It is the hardest piece of electronic equipment that I have ever owned to use. It requires getting out the book every time, not to mention multiple remote controls. Then I just usually say "forget it".........

Works good but would be better with a built in digital tuner..

Works very well......Great picture.....Easy to use.....Not many VCR's around these days.

Great System

Purchased DVD unit along with LCD flat screen--very easy to use and works great with all the kids VCR movies.-easy enough my 5yr old can set up his own movies with no problems--would recommend this unit--very happy with it

Could have been great

The VHS part still working after 8 years, the DVD stopped working after 1 year

excellent and easy to use.

this product has been very easy to use. keep the manual though, i don't think i could do anything without and. and, don't lose the remote - can't do a thing without it !

I bought this because the seller claimed it could record my VHS videos to DVD. It can't. WHY would I want to record a DVD to an old VHS??? That is can do...don't understand the backwards thinking in that design. Also, very complicated, half of what they say doesn't work the way they say, the visuals don't match the remote or the instruction booklet... Poorly made for this day and age. I regret buying it.

Good product worth the money!

I've only had the unit a few months and have used it weekly. So far, so good. Had not have had any problems at all. Would recommend this product.

Optimal DVD/VCR sans tuner

I got this for my wife who has an extensive oldie movie collection. She likes being able to cycle between DVD/VCR with one button. I have a silver face model from 3 years ago which is why I wanted the Philips.
