When the queen of the bugs demands that her army march in even lines, Private Joe divides the marchers into more and more lines so that he will not be left out of the parade
Poor Joe the bug. He wants to march with the other 24 bugs in his squadron, but the queen bug likes her followers to march in even lines such as two rows of 12, three rows of eight, or four rows of six--all of which leave Joe, insect number 25, the odd bug out. Luckily, Joe uses math to figure out a way to have 25 bugs march in even rows. Color illustrations accompany the text.
