Safety 1st Advanced Solutions Family Thermometer is rated 3.25 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! This is very easy to use and has some nice features: stores all attachments inside, shows you time, and last temp, and gives you options for different ways to take temps. The only reason I gave it 4 stars for 'effective' is that for underarm temps with our infant, it is two degrees lower than actual temp (our pediatrician said underarm temps with infants are less accurate, and we should add 2 degrees to the reading - easy adjustment). This would also make a great baby shower gift.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy This thermometer worked fine for us for a few months. Then is started acting funny. It would come on, but wouldn't function properly. If we could get it to start taking the temp, it would suddenly give an error message. New batteries made no difference. We bought a second one thinking that maybe we got a defective. After a few months, it did the exact same thing. Our daughter has febrile seizures, so we can't afford to have questionable thermometers.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Run far far FAR AWAY!!! Bought this, spending more on a thermometer this time around than last since I do in home daycare & thought I'd use it enough to justify the price & the different tips were a great feature. This is supposed to give you a reading in 5 seconds, HA! I was only able to use this 3 times & even though I followed the directions precisely it never gave a quick reading-which makes accurate readings extremely hard! I couldn't return it so even though the 5 second reading didn't work I had to keep it & decided to just deal w/ it. Last night, with my infant daughter very warm & sick I went to take her temperature, the thermometer kept turning on & off, just randomly, for no reason. Great, out [$] & I have to replace it. Please don't waste your money, you'll regret it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Its so useless 1. We stopped using the underarm attachement early on because it is very inaccurate. It gives you a different reading every time and can be off as much as 3 degrees. It often said our daughters temp was normal when she actually had a fever as confirmed by the rectl read. 2. We thought the rectl attachment worked great when our daughter was an infant, but as soon as she became old enough to move at all we couldn't get an accurate read. Our daughter is now 2 and this thing is useless. Taking the rectl temp of a toddler is unpleasant as it is, but having to do it two or three times in a row holding it for ten seconds each only to get "error" as the read is just awful. Forehead or ear thermometers may have some inaccuracy issues but at least you get some kind of a temperature read instead of "error" and you don't have to torture your kid.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from stopped working I was very excited about this thermometer because of the ease of use and versatility. I was very disappointed when it stopped working only a month after my son was born. Since it was a gift that we received no receipt for, and someone else unwrapped it and threw away the packaging, we had no way of returning it. Such a waste! Replacing the batteries did nothing, the screen just wouldn't work. The blue backlight came on, but no numbers came on...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from didn't work I am baffled that people rated this product 5 stars. I tried the oral and the underarm attachments and both read temps in the 93 and 94 range... I tried them on different family members and several times and always got low readings! I even changed the batteries and still got the same readings. maybe mine was defective... I returned it right away. As a nurse I have realized that the old basic thermometer works way better than the fancy ones!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great! This thermometer is so easy to use. It keeps all the attachments neatly tucked inside itself, and is still a nice compact size. The screen is very clear and easy to read. I love that it keeps track of the last 10 readings with time and everything. It has a temperature chart right there on it so you don't have to memorize healthy temps for each method, but also has a fever alert so you know right away. The readings come out fast, which is invaluable when dealing with a fussy baby. It's really so easy to use, easy to clean, versatile, an overall great value!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! As a new mom, and a nurse in pediatrics, I highly recommend this thermometer! It is quick, which make it highly user friendly for newborns, infants and children. The fever indicator is very useful. A must have for every growing family!
