Divided into two discs, there's early savage rockabilly and rock roll by Elvis, Jerry Lee, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Little Richard , Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Jackie Wilson, Brenda Lee, Carl Perkins, Duane Eddy, and the killer ballads by Conway Twitty (oh yeah, "It's Only Make Believe" is here), Gene Pitney, Mickey Sylvia, the Platters, and lots more. Given that Shake Rattle Roll: 50 Classic Rock N Roll Hits is out on the Sanctuary label, a huge independent, this comp verifies all original recordings, no re-recordings (so many of these cats and kittens were starved for cash, they recut tunes countless times). But this is all the real, rockin', dangerous stuff -- with no Pat Boone, y'all -- and it's all killer, no filler.
