This balloon valance is simply beautiful! One thing the picture doesn't show is that the bottom has 4-5 inches of STUNNING EMBROIDERED LACE. If you don't hook the bottom one or two plastic hooks...and leave that 4-5 inches of lace exposed, it folds down and is clearly visable under the poof and looks really stunning. Then if you use crumpled white tissue paper, the valance will truly "poof" as it should. This is such a great price for what you are getting. Yes it is sheer, but that is the look for this piece. A++++

Having searched for a balloon shade for some time, comparing fabric (e.g., rayon vs. cotton) and finally finding what I thought was the "perfect balloon shade" I purchased two shades at full price. Alas, unlike previous reviewers, I am nothing short of completely disappointed in the shades.Although these are 100% cotton, which is what I wanted, they are as shear as cheesecloth, with embroidered polka dots being the "embroidery" (which is rayon, not cotton). Who decided a bal loon shade should include 10 plastic rings with one larger ring on the bottom to be looped together to created the balloon was a good idea? I assumed (silly me) the shade included the standard tie or draw in the back of the shade, instead, I found 40 plastic rings sewn throughout. Note...the shade, being 100% cotton, is a wrinkled nightmare...requires quite a bit of steamed ironing...mind you, I actually enjoy ironing, but with each movement of the fabric, a new wrinkle developed so one must take care to elevate the ironing board to the highest level and take great care to always keep the fabric free from folding. Oh yes, and don't expect to iron with ease as the steam from the iron will MELT the plastic ring to the fabric...and when trying to iron around the loop, well, one ends up with countless circle of wrinkles. While ironing I had to take a pair a of scissors to cut away the threads between the "embroidered dots" - probably no more than 10 cuts per shade, but still time consuming.The biggest disappointment of all....once one takes time to loop the big plastic ring to the smaller rings, the entire lovely lace bottom is completely hidden as it becomes the base of the "balloon". I tried leaving the bottom free of the loops and it just looks ridiculous. Once the balloon is made, all one can see is a very thin fabric with lots of dots all over it - not like dotted Swiss, instead, big independent dots....no lace, no real balloon...more like folds on the bottom of the shade.In total disgust I took some white cotton trim I had in my stash of sewing goodies, measured it to double the length of the window (not the shade), ran it through each loop on the back and brining the trim over the top to meet at the bottom and make a lovely balloon shade bow...and allow the lacy trim at the bottom to actually be part of the shade, not the support of the bottom of the shade as before.I had to chuckle at the instructions noting that one can simply decrease the loop to lower the shade....yeah, I suppose so....if one doesn't mind staring at a row of wrinkled folds (and don't think a hand steamer will get out the folds/wrinkles!).In the end, far too much effort for something that wasn't exactly inexpensive...marginal quality fabric, terrible "balloon" concept using cheap and fragile plastic rings...and really not a true old fashioned balloon shade (and yes, it would have been easier to return the shades...but being the stubborn woman I am, I was not going to be defeated and reworked the shade to

I wanted some balloon shades for my daughter's nursery. I didn't want to pay a fortune and I also didn't need them to function in any specific way. These turned out to be just perfect. They are very pretty and although not super high quality they still give the right look. As a suggestion, to really help it to balloon just right these should be ironed and starched . . . this made a big difference!

If you look at the material close up, you see a lot of loose thread ends. Luckily, when you hang it up, the flaws are hidden in the folders, and the result in a soft, romantic look that's just what I was looking for. Note that the material is very sheer, so it won't block any light.

Purchased 2 panels to cover a 52in width window. Extremely happy with the purchase. Very sheer material that will help filter the light however by no means will provide privacy. The details in the fabric are wonderful and a great value. Very easy to install and many hooks available to help you achieve a customized look.

I couldn't believe how fast I received this shade. It is beautiful! I was a little lost on how to make it look like a shade...all you do is hook the clips! Well worth the money!!!!

This valance is STUNNING! I had been looking for delicate white window treatments and FELL IN LOVE with this shade when I first saw it! The batiste is a delicate cotton, very lightweight, very sheer, PERFECT for the airy look I wanted. The swiss dot pattern is a very feminine statement without going over the top, especially since the bottom of the shade has a GORGEOUS embroidered lace hem! The ONLY REASON I gave this balloon shade four stars for quality is because of the plastic rings. One of the large rings broke as I was getting the shades set how I wanted them! However, since I'm using the shades as a valance, once I got them set, I knew I wouldn't be changing them. I used this as a valance over the Simply Shabby Chic embroidered voile panels and they go together perfectly!

I bought this several months ago because I thought it was just beautiful, which is still the case. However, a few weeks ago the plastic rings in the back started to fall apart. I did notice they were very fragile when putting the curtain up. So now I have a curtain that has several missing rings and is no longer functional. I had rigged some paper clips on the back to hold it together but when more broke I gave up. Beautiful curtain but very cheap. Material is pretty thin also, more along the lines of sheer.

I purchased this lovely panel for three different windows in my house. I spent a great deal of time looking for curtains for these particular spaces as I couldn't decide what would look just right. These curtains have certainly fit the bill! I used two panels for my master bathroom window that sits just above a jacuzzi tub. I wanted the light from the window but needed some privacy as well--these curtains do just that. I also covered my pre-teen daughter's bathroom window with one panel and a s mall window directly above my kitchen sink. Super happy with my purchase.

These curtains are just darling! They look wonderful in my daughters room. I was pleasantly surprised with the material and I love the embroidery on the curtain. I definitely recommend this product. Also it is very easy to adjust the length and the material is sheer but yet they give enough privacy.
