I recently purchased the dresser, headboard, nightstand and the bookcase for my toddler. It looked very nice in picture and also in real life and it was somewhat moderate work to assemble. But the parts are cheap and flimsy. We were very careful putting it together and the bookcase looked beautiful. Then we attached the screw that was included int he packet for child- safety at the back and guess what? the entire back-side of the top part cracked where the hole was.... we didn't even use any fo rce to push the screw in! I feel like asking Target for the money back. Save your money if you can!
This is the fifth bookshelf of this kind that I have ordered from Target. I use them in my children's playroom and they are really adorable. The white color is soft, yet clean looking and the detailing makes it look much more expensive. I have had four of the shelves for over a year. Those held up to daily wear and tear from my three young children. When assembled, those never smelled. The fifth shelf just arrived. After putting it together several hours ago, I can barely breathe. The o dor coming from the paint is quite harsh. It is burning my nose and eyes. I am very disappointed.
this is my favorite piece in my daugthers [Retailer] filled room.. i just ordered a 2nd one for her playroom!!! it is sturdy, beautiful color, and classic. i will not shop at [Retailer] again and plan on sticking with the Shabby Chic collection. it is adorable!
This is a really cute bookcase, but when we sat down to put it together, we soon realized most of the holes needed to screw the pieces together had not been drilled. Instead of simply screwing the pieces together, we had to drill holes in each piece. It took much longer than it should have and required more tools than it listed on the instructions. If I didn't have my husband's help, I would have returned it to the store and asked for a refund. Huge pain.
The bookcase came promptly but was not the same color as the other bookcase. The screws were not long enough to hold it together. The materials are poor quality and are not strong enough to stay together. The wood in the front was split. Not worth the money I spent and I would never purchase this bookcase again. A poor quality product not worth the money.
This bookcase is really nice. Simple to put together, pretty details, and it's surprisingly sturdy. It's a soft off-white color that works really well in my daughter's room. The only downside I saw was the back wall piece - it has small grooves throughout which are noticeable, however, most books/objects can hide those lines. We have four pieces of Shabby Chic furniture, this was a great buy!

This piece is very nice and was exactly as I expected. I have purchase other items in the Simply Shabby Chic line and they have all been great for the price. Although they all took time to assemble, assembly was easy and all went together well.
This is so cute perfect for my room no matter how old I am I want it for my new room

The bookcase arrived promptly, like everything else I've ordered from Target. It came in perfect condition and I had no trouble putting it together. In regards to the smell that the other reviewers mentioned, there was a slight smell when unpacking the pieces. However, it dissipated quickly and I would guess it came from the packing materials and not the bookcase itself. In short I would recommend this bookcase to anyone!! Purchase with confidence, this bookcase is awesome!
