Summer Infant 5" Wide View Digital Rechargeable Color Video Baby Monitor is rated 3.7436 out of 5 by 39.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great except for battery life! I LOVE this monitor. The screen is huge. This monitor doesn't pan, which is fine because I really don't see any need for it when baby is sleeping in a crib. It does have 1 zoom option, which we often use. I haven't used this in color, as the room is dark when my baby is napping...but the color does look great! I am slightly bummed with the range of this monitor, but it is comparable to other brands. The ONLY problem I really have with this is the battery life. The battery life of the screen lasts only about 2 or 3 hours. Other than that, it's great!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Short Battery Life Pros - large screen-color and night vision-2 way communication Cons - Battery has very short life and we need to plug it in within 3 hours which kind of defeats the purpose of a rechargeable and portable device and is annoying to constantly be moving the charger from room to room.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the best So I do like this monitor but the thing that I do not like about it is that at night when I have in on my night stand I can't have my cell phone charging next to it. Other wise it does not work! Big bummer for me!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not perform like other similarly priced monitors Purchased monitor to replace a different two year old Summer Infant model. This model exhibited the same problems as the first, only it happened in two months, not two years. After daily use for about 2 months, the charging cord loosened ever so slightly and would NOT charge the video monitor. We had to tape it down or wrap the cord around the hand held device with slight pressure to keep it plugged into the unit. Irregardless the cord would stop charging the unit after a few hours. Unit would exude a loud buzzing noise when this would happen as well. Very unpleasant to be awakened multiple times a night to buzzing (even with volume turned to the lowest setting) or to wake up and realize the monitor isn't even on because it failed to charge. Also it seemed to short out at times and when I would go to pick up the unit, it would just turn off, like the battery died even though it showed half a charge. VERY frustrating. I will never buy a Summer Infant monitor again. Our first model worked for almost 2 years before it began to malfunction. Yet, it had the same issue of the cord not actually charging the device when plugged in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice but could be better So I just got this last night and used a probably 3 times so far. The picture quality is really good and I like how big the screen is. One thing that bothers me about it though is that when the parent monitor is unplugged the screen goes black after a couple min. I read the troubleshoot part for no picture and it just says to push the video on off button. Don't know if it's supposed to turn off on purpose maybe for a power saving mode but when my daughter started crying I just saw the sound lights and no video. If the screen turns off automatically with out being plugged in then doesn't that defeat the purpose of a video monitor??? I'm not going to pay $164 on something that doesn't do its job. There should be an option to where you can leave it on or not cause when I'm busy cleaning I don't have time to continue to push the button off and on. Also it would be really nice if they put a temperature on it. Wish they did that with all the monitors since I keep a fan on in the room for circulation it's probably cooler in her room. But if they fixed the picture problem I would give it more stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! Summer infant is an excellent brand, we had one with a small screen that lasted for ever! This new version has an extra large screen, the Zoom in great and I love the two-way talk feature.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good deal, unclear picture We got a great deal on this baby monitor on Black Friday - $50 discount! Once we opened and installed it, however, we were pretty unimpressed with the quality of the picture. It is quite unclear, especially in the dark. It will work just fine for us, but if you feel you need a clear picture, I'd go with a different model.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from was not planning on buying a baby monitor My husband and I was not planning on buying a baby monitor because we live in a very small apartment. After going over the Target add, we saw that this particular monitor (on sale) and what caught our attention was the huge screen. As soon as we took it home, we tried it and found out that we are able to speak from the monitor and it can be heard thru the camera. What my husband and I did no like is that the image was not clear like what the add shows. We were going to return it but since we have come to an agreement that as long as we can see the baby and the sound comes out clear, we decided to keep it. Besides, it was on sale.
