Robert Andresen (1937ndash;95) lived in the Duluth-Superior area and was a leading force in documenting, performing, and promoting old-time music in the Upper Midwest. Born into a musical family of Norwegian immigrants, he was a radio and record producer, festival organizer, field researcher, and most of all a skilled guitar player who drew upon his love of country and blues music, Scandinavian and Slovenian polkas and waltzes, and lumber camp fiddling to create innovative adaptations of accordion and fiddle tunes for flat-picked guitar.
