Featuring more than one thousand photographs designed to teach Vinyasa Yoga technique, this spectacular book presents the eastern meditation/exercise technique practiced by the "grandfather of modern yoga" and includes an audio CD containing chants and mantras. Original.
This is one of the closest things to an "official" book of Vinyasa yoga one is likely to find, with author Ramaswami compiling close to a thousand poses, the results of a lifetime tutelage under one of the key figures of yoga in this century, Sri T. Krishnamacharya. The focus of Vinyasa yoga is on the sequencing of postures with breathing exercises, so that each posture is linked to specific breath and counterbalancing movements. This is a beautiful way to approach yoga, the way one may bead a necklace, or arrange a garden. The chain of postures and breaths is meant to constantly evolve and change, starting as simply as needed and then moving gradually all the way into full awareness. Thus everyone from a novice to an advanced practitioner will be able to take this huge book to heart and grow old along with it.
