The First Years Crisp & Clear View Digital Video Baby Monitor is rated 2.913 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money The distance it receives signal is MUCH shorter than advertised - more like 50 feet. We have a very small house and our baby is at the other end from our bedroom, and the signal barely reaches 3/4 of the way. The monitor blacks out every 4-5 seconds, which defeats the purpose of even having a monitor. Spend the extra money and get a higher quality monitor.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Monitor Ever! After a little over 7 months this monitor stopped working. We contacted the company to see if they would do anything and they informed us that this monitor only comes with a 90 day warranty. What a joke! That was a quick [$] down the drain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GREAT FOR THE $$ We were given a hand me down monitor (that once we set up, didn't work) so we ended up not getting one until about a month before baby was born. I love this thing ... it was fairly inexpensive for a video monitor and it has great range. I live in a two story and get signal all over my home - even with doors shut. The other reviews are correct that it is "loud", but if you aren't a light sleeper - it's a great feature to have. I keep the setting on Volume 3 at night and face it down so the light of it doesn't keep me awake, but when he makes noise, my husband and I can hear him even if we are in a deep sleep.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from should have spent the extra 50$ for a nicer one i bought this one because i wanted the video monitor to see my baby but wasnt trying to spend [$]... after buying this one i should have spent the extra money. the video goes in and out, ill see him for a minute then it will go black for a minute. the static is also very loud. dont waste your money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not waste your money! Junk! The picture comes in and out from the start! Always has a static sound. The picture is not clear when there is one. My baby isn't even 3 months old and the monitor just died tonight. No picture or sound. My receipt expired two weeks ago and I don't have the box.....we'll see if Target does anything for me tomorrow......

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointment! This is in short: the image you get on the display is very poor even in day light; the range is hardly more than 150 ft; the sound is way too loud and even if you don't hear it that much during the day, it really bothers you at night when it is quiet and the monitor is right next to your bed; the light that comes out of the unit at night is very bright and I had to turn it sideways to be able to sleep (it was on my night stand); I am very disappointed and will return it!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not fabulous I bought this monitor because I needed a new one to replace our previous one. This one was on clearance so I tried it out. I'm really glad I kept the receipt because after one night I knew I hated it. It's cool that you can zoom in to see your child closer up using the parent monitor, but that's pretty much the only cool feature of this set. Our room is fairly far away from our son's room, which is why we need a monitor in the first place, and this set was advertised to have a nice range (longer than our previous set). However, this set apparently only has two volume settings - loud and louder. The lowest volume setting is about what the medium-high setting on our old monitor was. Yes, I want to hear if my child cries at night, but I don't need to hear it every time he rolls over or smacks his lips. Also, despite the range listed on the box, the parent monitor couldn't stay connected to the camera in my son's room. Yes, his door is shut and so is ours (we have cats), but our old monitor, which had a smaller advertised range, stayed connected just fine. So, last night the monitor kept cutting in and out (literally every 2-3 seconds). When it was connected, I could hear my son's fan as if it were right next to my ear, and when the monitor wasn't connected, there was silence. So, loud white noise for 2 seconds, followed by silence for 2 seconds, and so on, with an occasional loud "beep" when it lost the signal entirely and was searching for the camera. Overall, I do not recommend this system unless you always want to hear the tiniest sound that your child makes and your room is close enough to your child's for the signal to stay constantly connected (in which case, you could probably just hear your child anyway).
