My husband (extremely picky) loves this gate. It fit our stairs perfectly, was easy to install, and keeps our daughter off of the stairs. It's light weight, easy to open with one hand, and fits with our decor. I was worried about purchasing this gate because my girlfriend has latches that are impossible to lift with one hand, no worries with this gate.

we recently got a new puppy and had been using the old standard dog gate. I saw this one and liked the styling. I was able to set it up easily. The latch is secure. One hand operation make passage thru effortless. The best part is the puppy can't chew thru it. I plan on buying a 2nd one for the other doorway. Great product. Pet stores should sell it.

its very stylish and functional. we bought one 2 years ago to keep the dog out of the den because all the other gates were not wide enough. i love that this on is adjustable and can be mounted with pressure or y screws. we bought a house and are expecting our first child so i just ordered another gate for the top of the stairs since we are using the first one we bought for the bottom of the stairs. i also got a great deal on it [...] and my red card for free shipping plus another 5 percent off.

I really wanted to keep our two dogs out of the nursery, but I wanted to maintain the aesthetic appeal. Having spent all that time and money making the nursery perfect, I didn't feel comfortable slapping a cheap looking gate in front of it. This is perfect! It looks good with our chocolate and pink nursery, keeps the dogs out, and fits perfectly in our door frame. It is tall and I can see that if you don't have round door knobs, it may be too tall. I thought it would be easier to open, but it's not hard. You have to squeeze the handle and lift up on the gate at the same time. It took me a little bit, but I'm already use to it after 2 weeks (baby isn't even here yet).

Installing baby gates into our 3 story town house posed a few challenges.(1) the gate had to be tall enough to compensate for the stairs and (2) it had to be installable without using bolts.While the First Years Extra Tall Home Decor Gate gave us the option to install with bolts, the option to use suspense tension was also offered and worked like a charm.All that plus they're not an eye sore and they're easy for adults to use while complicated enough to stump my toddler.Great fit for our needs

This gate is great. But you don't have to take just my word for it. All the parents in my day care home love it too. I have a 14 month old in my care that can climb everything, but this gate has stopped her flat. The solid vertical slats make it so she cannot climb. It takes some time to get it installed but if you just read the trouble shooting instructions it will be up and doing it's job in no time flat. I am on the site right now buying a second one because I love it so much. My gate gets m ore use than a gate in an average home would get and it is great. It has been up for a month without one problem.

I was unable to latch the gate at the top even after I had assembled the whole thing. It appears to have been bent in such a way that it could not latch properly. Could be a a problem in shipping, but not worth taking the risk. The manufacturers need to fix what ever kink they have that causes the gate to not be able to latch at the top.

I bought 2 of these 4 years ago to gate in our puppy at the time. They worked great and still work today to keep our two dogs contained when we leave the house. Now I have twins who are on the move now so I bought another to use elsewhere in the house. I prefer my older versions of this gate for several reasons. The door part of the gate is black like the rest of the gate where as on the new gate it is grey. Also, the rubber bumpers that press against the wall on the old gate are white so they are less likely to mark the walls when installed and one the new gate the rubber pads are black so I am concerned that when I remove the gate they will leave marks on the wall/doorjamb. Still this is a very good gate, I just wish they would have not changed the style/color from the original.

I was very disipointed in this gate! I was excited to see that the dimensions fit the area I needed, which is why I bought this one, but it was junk, especially for the price I had to pay! It was not sturdy and the gate never shut on its own like it was suposed to. Very cheaply made, I returned it to the store the day it arrived in the mail.

I had this gate for well over a year, then for no reason the top presure mounts that insert into the gate, well they went in but WOULD not come out! The bottom ones did with no problem. They are all supposed to come out so you can interchange them with the extention pieces if you need them. I tried to pry them out carfully, but the plastic broke. So I went out and got another gate, excact same one. Same thing, and this one was BRAND NEW! What gives? It is/was a great working gate, perfect for m y kids and dogs. But when you need to add or remove an extention part to the gate, you NEED those mounts to remove with ease and well now it's just suck in there. Making what I paid for a gate with extentions useless. FYI for those of you who may buy this and then later go to remove them to use another part and relize you can't because it's stuck in there, and most likely like mine and the new one, won't remove without damaging it. I'm taking the new one back, and I'm still out the old one. I gave it two stars because it was sturdy, stayed in place when shook, set up with ease. Like other reviews if your "wider" it is narrower and you might have to go sideways. If not for the top metal/insert issues I would have given it 5 stars. Word of warning.
