We have the [....] for my first son and love it. I wanted to try this one for our new baby because it has double the white noise and double the music choices. I was also excited about the battery option. The music has great sound and doesn't have the machine-y twang that so many baby items do. HOWEVER, the white noise options are SOOOOOO BAD. One even sounds like a car horn going off. It is going back to the store tomorrow and I am ordering a second [...]Machine as we speak...

it's great to have a small sound machine that plugs in so it can run all night. We bought it for our baby, but have found this really helpful for us too (since the baby is in our room for now). I wish there were more white noise sound options, such as ocean waves or forest sounds, but there are options that work for us. The music options are nice -- really sound like a piano, not baby music. They rotate, so you're not listening to endless rounds of one song. The power light is really bright [. ..] I cannot claim this miraculously helped our baby go to sleep, but it seems we all do sleep a bit better with this going.

After our old sound machine broke I was on the search for another that wouldn't short out all the time like our old one. I needed two for two children. [...]I was really excited to get it. While I can't speak for how long it will last, I'm sadly not all that impressed. My biggest complaint is that the max volume isn't very loud. Because our kids share a wall between their rooms I need something to keep out the sound from each others room and this doesn't do it...on the white noise setting anywa y. The classical musical option is nice and the songs do sound clear, but my main purpose for having this was to help my little one sleep so he won't hear all the noise going on in the house and unfortunately it doesn't do it. My other complaint is that out of the 6 "white noise" options, there is only one that is steady (sounds like the whooshing sound of the ocean). But all the others and even that one somewhat "sounds" manufactured. I know that it is manufactured, but my understanding about these sound machines is that you want a steady sound so that it doesn't impede on the child's sleep pattern. One more thing that might be minor to all of you is that when you turn the machine on and off it won't automatically go back to where you had it last. Therefore if you walk into baby's room to turn it on or if your baby already fell asleep before you got to turn it on you would have to repeatedly press the button and go through all the sounds before you get to the one you want (unless you're likely and like the first one---don't know who would though, it sounds like an alien in outer space).[...]I figure if there is anyone else out there looking for a machine that makes steady white noise with the option of a high volume...this is not it. I'm going to try [another] next.It is a nice small size and easy to clean.

There are 2 main things that bother me about this sound machine. 1. It is not loud enough. I still feel like I have to tip-toe around while the baby is sleeping because I know he can hear noises over this machine. 2. The power light is too bright in a dark room and it's a really blinding blue. Sounds like a weird complaint, but I literally put a burp cloth over it at night so it's not lighting up his whole room. In addition to those two things, the sound options aren't that great. The fuzzy white noise is the only one I want and this machine does have it, it's just not loud enough... Not a fan and in the market for a new one.

My daughter is 11 wks, and we bought this for her about 3 weeks ago. We noticed that she'd stop crying/fussing when I turned on the dust-buster. Same with the vacuum, the running tap water, and the dryer. She is a very colicky baby, and also has reflux. We really wanted her to get some rest, so we gave this a try. It's awesome!! We leave it on all night, because she wakes up once it turns off, and we've only used the white noise functions, not the lullaby.

I read the reviews on this pup, and I thought for [$] I couldn't go wrong. Boy was I right! This is a very functional machine and it really does soothe my baby. I turn it on when I lay her to bed and she goes right to sleep. I have the monitor on at night and I have even learned to fade that noise out and only hear the baby. It works really well. I highly recommend.

We absolutely loved this machine! We used it every day, for every nap and long car rides for 6 months straight. I'm so sad to say it stopped working after such a short amount of time. I don't know if there was a short in the system or what, but it is no more. I don't really want to spend $ on another one if it is only going to last half a year.

Really enjoyed the sounds and music, but needs to last longer than 14 months...poor value

We tried this with our newborn for a week. It didn't seem to make any difference in her sleeping. We have had better success with Twinkle Twinkle Little Scout dog which plays lullaby music. I imagine it just depends on the baby though.

I would recommend the Sounds for Silence Nursery machine for anyone who has a child with difficult sleeping patterns. Our newborn son was barely sleeping two hours at a time and would randomly pick a few hours every day where he would scream uncontrollably no matter what you did to soothe him. The first night we used the Sounds for Silence Nursery machine he slept five hours! To a Mom who hasnt had more than two hours of sleep at a time five hours is pretty much considered sleeping through the night for us at this point. I love that you can use it connected to an electrical outlet or on batteries so it is more mobile. I like to use it in his pack in play in the living room and in the bassinet next to our bed at night. The only thing I would complain about is the actual noises. It doesnt really matter since they work but the sounds are horrible for an adult to listen to. There are two that are suppose to sound like the womb so loud bangs and swishing sounds, a buzzing alarm clock type sound, and then white noise. Our baby prefers the white noise setting which often leads to me having Poltragist visions half way through the night. I suppose as long as his first words arent theyre here well be ok, and thankful for the peaceful nights.
