@thatshelflove 🤎 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙷𝚎𝚗𝚗𝚊 𝙰𝚛𝚝𝚒𝚜𝚝 🤎 This book. Wow. I was mesmerized from the beginning until I reluctantly closed the book wishing I could jump in the pages and continue her journey. This story is one of heartbreak, courage, determination, and celebration. thealkajoshi wrote a masterpiece!! The characters were vibrant, and I felt like I knew them personally! Lakshmi, Malik (I can still hear his “Yes, Aunti-Boss!”), and Jay were among my absolute favorites! This book also includes a list of characters with their relation to one another, meanings of words, descriptions of the caste system, and recipes! 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙷𝚎𝚗𝚗𝚊 𝙰𝚛𝚝𝚒𝚜𝚝 is the first in the Jaipur Trilogy, and I can’t wait to pick up the other two! Her writing is easy to read, with a depth that brings the story to life! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 This is another perfect purchase from target #targetstyle 🤎 What’s the last book you read that you didn’t want to end? #summerreading #mustread #jaipurtrilogy #thehennaartist #alkajoshi #reesesbookclub #bookclub #labradoodle #read #book #bookstagram #bookrecommendations #bookreview #bookreviewer #thatshelflove #momof4 #dogmom #sahm #wfhm #friyay #happyreading #qotd

@kendallandherbooks Sunday scaries calls for #bookmail!! I originally put The Santa Suit on hold at my library, but the story sounded so cute and I couldn’t resist adding it to my cart!🎅🏼 I’m also never really one to pick up a reesesbookclub pick right away, but I ALSO couldn’t resist when I read the synopsis of The Island of Missing Trees! 🌴 ….And then I just had to treat myself to one more that I’ve been eyeing forever 🤪 (The Henna Artist) Needless to say, today I’m going to target and mayyyyy pick up one or two more books. November/December are extremely hectic months and I cope by spending what little money I already have on books 😌

"The Henna Artist is a delicious, old-fashioned tale about timeless heartaches. There's something elemental and mythic about Lakshmi and her knowledge of spices, roots, oils, and barks that drew me into the kind of world I gladly lived in when reading fairy tales as a child, a place inhabited by powerful queens, talking birds, magical drinks, orphans, sad princesses, clever servants, and dangerous poisons. I'm in awe of Joshi's storytelling and a little jealous of the character who winds up with the talking bird. "Namaste!" as he says. "Bonjour! Welcome!"---Laura McNeal, author of The Practice House
