When Arthur Bobowicz is sent to the market to pick up his family's Thanksgiving turkey he is horrified to discover that there are no turkeys left in all of Hoboken. If Arthur doesn't bring home a turkey what will he and his family eat for their Thanksgiving feast? Then Arthur meets Professor Mazzocchi--"Inventor of the Chicken System"--who sells him a huge, live 266-pound chicken. Arthur's family is indeed surprised by Arthur's purchase but soon come to love the chicken so much that they decide to keep her as a pet. What will life be like with a 266-pound pound pet chicken and what will the other Hoboken residents think of the newest member of the Bobowicz family? Illustrated with b&w drawings.
