To date I own 5 of these bookcases. Three are new but two I have owned for 4 years and they have been moved 3 times and they still look fantastic. I love them because I can put heavy books on them but they never bow or warp under the weight. They look really nice even though they were not expensive.
I bought 2 of these and the TV stand with glass doors. I put a bookcase on each side of the TV stand and it makes my family room look so good. I bought the black my husband put all 3 pieces together in a couple hours. and he love it all. Great prices. I understand when people say so many screws but if you want it to stay together thats what you need. Also an electric screw gun doesnt hurt
I purchased the 5 shelf and 3 shelf bookcases over a year ago. I found them easy to assemble but found it a little easier to have an extra set of hands. I have had other ready to assemble furniture but these are sturdier that those other pieces. I also find the details on them make them appear as a more expensive piece of furniture. I have moved them a couple of times and they have stayed together without needing any repair. They are sturdy and found them steady on carpet of tile floor. I am getting ready to purchase another set in Ebony this time.
Not pleased. I put it together by myself with a 3 and 1 year old in tow. I put together most all of our furniture so this was ok. The beginning was very easy about 15 minutes, but then I had to screw on the backing with 23 screws. Only 1 hole was predrilled. I have a blister on my thumb from the other 22. I was extremely frustrated and this was very time consuming. Upon standing it up when I finally finished it wobbles on wood floor. I think it's the plastic circles on on the bottom which I mig ht remove and replace with felt. If you have carpet this will most likely not affect you. It's just very frustrating that I now have to find a solution to the slight wobble before use. [............................]
I agree with the other customer, there aren't more than one or two pre drilled holes for the backing. I was surprised at how cheap everything was. When it was together in the store it looked so much nicer so I was surprised. It will do but not too great.

The directions were clear and it took about a half an hour for me to put it together. It was packed well, so no damage. It was a cheap piece of furniture, so I think it is about worth what was paid. I wasn't looking for a shelf to last through time, just through childhood. I didn't expect hardwood. It is sturdy enough to hold books. Its biggest fault? On the carpet, it doesn't stand flat once books are loaded. It kinda sways forward so there is a bigger gap on the top then the bottom near the wall. I put a wall anchor in. Comes with one. and I feel better about it, but it still leans forward. I think my next step would be to put a little wedge of wood under the front of it. I dunno. I think if given the chance to repurchase, I would spend a little more to get a more stable one.
