Purchased two of these approx 4 yrs ago. Called the Professional rack before the Threshold brand was introduced, but it's the same based on description & pix. A breeze to set up myself. Hubby took out closet systems in 2 guest rooms in the house we bought since those racks were over 6 ft tall, and took up 1/3 of the closet with particle board. I'm 5'2", and can pack one rack to overflowing for storage, and use the other for in season garments. The best part is every
thing's reachable, and the design is simple. They're Very sturdy racks, and the wheels are great. They move when pushed, but don't slide around while searching through for the perfect outfit. I have hardwood floors and they stay in place. I'm back for two more as I've more clothes to organize. Why spend a little less on something that will break in a few years, when these will last for decades? Highly recommend.
I have had mine for well over 3 years now and it is well worth the money. I use mine to store coats and winter clothing. It is sturdy and NEVER has fallen over and mine is packed full and heavy with clothing. I Love it!
I actually didn't end up keeping this rack because it was too big for my room. That's the only downside, because otherwise it really is great quality. I'm also somewhat of a penny-pincher so the price wasn't my favorite, but I was willing to spend the $60 because I know it's durable and sturdy (I know someone who has a few of these racks).
I got this the other day, and put it together yesterday. So far so good!! It was really easy to put together, and I probably have 20 dresses or so on it, and probably more when summer comes along! It's holding the weight really well, and I haven't had an issue! Definitely a good buy if you're looking to invest the money into it!!
We're currently stationed overseas and bought a few of these to bring with us. They are FABULOUS! They hold a lot of weight! Right now we're using them for my husbands uniforms/gear. We tried a few others before we found this one and NONE of them were able to hold his uniforms. But this one has no problems! Oh and its height adjustable so if you wanted to use it for your kids room its great too!
I purchased this rack yesterday and put it together as soon as I got home and then filled it with clothes, it fellover----it is top heavy and to tall, it will only adjust to a higher height which would make it worse. I feel that this rack is dangerous. "not commercial grade weight".
Prefer Eco Chrome to Whitmore for function and cost
ARCHITECT & UBER ORGANIZER
April 15, 2010
I have now purchased 2 of the Eco Chrome racks and I'm very satisfied with the quality of the product for the money. I purchased a Whitmore commercial rack at Target.com. It was more expensive than the Eco Chrome. I find the Eco Chrome FAR SUPERIOR to the Whitmore. The Whitmore rack wobbles back and forth when sliding garments, the joint on the horizontal bar "really bugs me", and the general sturdiness of the rack and rod diameter is inferior to the Eco Chrome. The Whitmore has b
een relegated to holding active wear until I am able to replace it with an Eco Chrome. The Whitmore will then be only worthy of holding drip dry laundry. And at a cost of almost $ with tax and shipping. With a background in retail, I'm familiar with commercial racks. I compared racks at the retail fixture wholesaler to the Eco Chrome carried only in-store at Target. Since it was for "home" use, I did not expect the product to endure the weight load or wear and tear as it would in a store. Price was a deciding factor also.I'm removing stationary closet rods in a walk in closet and replacing with rolling racks with wardrobe arranged by season. This enables simply moving racks to the forefront as the season dictates. While the racks are full, they are not being wheeled about on a daily basis. It bugs me a little bit that hangers (I use commercial hangers) hesitate movement over the joint of the horizontal bar. But, not enough to really bother me. (and trust me I'm picky!)As an architect, design is a major consideration. The only option I preferred on the Whitmore over the Eco Chrome were the locking wheels and bumper caps.TARGET.......MAKE THE ECO CHROME AVAILABLE ON LINE!!!!! YOU'RE DOING A DIS-SERVICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!!!
Can't handle heavy loads - design flaw, shady claims
Gina in Colorado
December 01, 2009
I resell clothes and have a lot of stock. I needed a heavy duty rack to handle the load. This rack looks like a commercial grade one, but isn't by a long shot. The problem is that the top bar and the bottom rails are not solid but made of two pieces that connect in the center. As soon as I put my clothes on it, I could see the top rail was sagging. There's NO WAY this rack was going to last, and I ended up ordering a REAL commercial rack for not much more money than I spent on this on
e. The other thing that really bugs me is the use of the words "commercial" and "eco" in the name. The only statements of explanation on the box are these: it has "heavy duty commercial wheels" and "Eco Chrome is an ecologically friendly alternative to chrome." What does that mean?? I even went to the maker's website for more information, but it was "under development". This is NOT a commercial grade item. Is it better than the cheap department store alternatives? Yes. Is it a commercial grade rack? Absolutely not. Don't be fooled by the title! No professional business would use this rack and mine is going back to Target. So much for saving a few bucks.
This garment rack was a breeze to assemble! I'm in the apparel business and always wanted a chrome garment rack at home. This is a very study garment rack with wheels that move easily over carpet. I was very pleased with the quality and ease of assembly. No sharp edges with the included end caps. This rack will last many many years!
