This was purchased for our loft area upstairs. We have an older home and with the 100 plus temps in Texas it was getting to be unbearable. I can turn this AC unit on and within minutes it cools down the entire area. I did order a second unit for our master bedroom as well. These are alittle noisy but then so are window units. We went with this so as to not destroy the outward appearance of our older home. We do not like the look of window units from the outside. These are easy to install howeve r I would also adise anyone using this unit to make sure you insulate the area around your windows.

I guess the true measure is not the actual BTU of the unit but is in fact how fast it can cool a specified space under certain conditions. This Whynter portable unit gets the job done and gets it done fast. By my measurement, it effectively reduced the temperature in a 320+ sq foot room from a balmy 82F to a crisp 69F in a matter of half an hr. It actually took it down to a very comfy 72F in about 20mins but the final 3degrees was the uphill climb. The blinds were wide open and it was in the he at of the afternoon sun. The general appearance of the A/C is slightly robotic but by no means unappealing. The only knock I have against it is the location of the handle grips being not centered. It is otherwise solid and nicely built.

Used this all of last summer and put it away. It started warming up earlier than expected and so I pulled this out of the garage. It did not skip a beat despite being in storage for almost half a year. Extremely efficient cooling for a 12000 BTU unit. I am very happy that this turned out to be a dependable a/c.

I am allergic heat, I would live in Alaska if I could. For some reason I tend to feel weak and tired even under slight heat. This portable a/c has been a great relief for me during warm weather. It's performed superiorly even in extreme heat. Thanks.

I purchased this unit online about a month ago and it shipped ahead of schedule. It was perfectly packed with no issues. (Note, the box is pretty heavy so if you have to move it far, plan to have some help.) I immediately set the unit up in our 2nd floor loft space, about 700 square feet with no central air (over 50% more than the unit is designed for). The unit cooled the room from 85 deg F to 75 deg in under an hour (we set up a fan mid-room to help the air move a bit better) and we were down to 71 another 30 mins later. It was easy to install and vents the moisture out the window along with the heat, so no need to worry about a tank overflowing and flooding your floor. The unit looks really nice too. The fan runs constantly and the compressor kicks in as needed, just like it should. I'd give the noise level a B+, but all A/C units are louder than most of us would like, so just don't put it near the head of your bed. All and all, the unit gets a solid A!

I really enjoy how quickly the unit cools. My biggest complaint is that it is loud,I cannot hear the TV without turning it up quite a bit. Don't watch any movies where you need to hear the dialog. Also, I cannot get it closer to the window. It stands about two feet away. It is a bit of an eyesore. I used window units before, and dreaded having to install them every summer and take them out every fall, so I guess this is the trade-off.

Great air conditioner - as others say cools a good size space quickly. I am very happy with this purchase and target had the best price, too! It is noisy but the cool is worth it. It's very easy to install which is another plus. I like being able to avoid window units which I can't install by myself.

I have 2 rooms to cool. One is 8x10 and the other is 10x10. Both are bedrooms. The rooms are separated by a door. I just leave the door open.I set up the air conditioner in the large bedroom. I also bought a dedicated "BERKIN WORKSHOP SURGE protector". The surge protector is used with powertools. I plug it in here. I also bought a large plastic tray from [...] or you can get it at a petshop. It is the tray in the large dog crate. Put this tray under the unit in case it leaks. I heard from other reviews of ruin carpets from units like this. For my windows, I had replacement windows I put in a few years back and the unit came with a sliding window panels that does not fit my window. When I use it, the sliding panel blocks the large hole needed for the hose. So I used the panel with the large hole and use heavy cardboard and duct tape to seal the window opening.I set the temperature on the unit to cool to 75 degrees. The rooms at the time was around 90 degrees. I would say about 40 minutes the two rooms were comfortable. I love this unit so far.Also the unit is very heavy. It is about 75 pounds. I suggest to have the box with the unit moved to desired location and unpack it. The unit has the casters installed. All you have to do it put in the filter (2 minutes), set up the hose to the window and unit (20 minutes). Have philips head screw driver ready and that is it!

Great Air conditioner but had to return it because it was just way too large for my studio apartment.
