Yo Gabba Gabba: Music Is Awesome collects most of the songs associated with the creative Noggin/Nick Jr. kid show Yo Gabba Gabba. These songs are intended to evoke both '70s bubblegum pop and modern indie rock with a bit of hip-hop and new wave thrown in. Sung by a cast of costumed creatures and their friend DJ Lance Rock, the songs are designed to get kids to dance and sing while gaining an understanding of things like their emotions ("Don't Be Afraid"), their bodies ("Party in My Tummy"), and the world ("You Can't Always Get What You Want"). Also included are performances featured on the show by such guest artists as the Shins, Of Montreal, and the Roots, all done with a similar have-fun-while-learning aesthetic. My kid LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba, and the songs from the show were the first songs (outside of nursery rhymes) that I heard her sing. When we found this CD, I was ecstatic. She LOVES it and wants to hear it every single day. Although I know every single word now, compared to alot of children's music, this one is pretty easy to stomach and pretty enjoyable for us all. I love that about every other song is one sung by the Gabba crew,and the rest are by bands with pretty cool messages in the lyrics (&q uot;Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose" "you can't always get what you want" " I brush my teeth every day", etc) Both my girls love the music and I wish they would come out with another album. Awesome buy, if your child loves the show, this is a must have.

My son loves the TV show, and now he can have some music to listen to when it's not on. All of his favorite songs are one there. Want to get the second volume in the near future.

This is a cool CD that has a lot of the songs from the show, like Party in my Tummy and the Intro song. My kid likes it a lot.
