Ready Sit Read! Bringing reading to life for kids and parents.

You are the most important person in your child's reading life. Find out how to make reading a rich experience for your child and your whole family.

Choose your child's age and get started:

18 to 36 months. Toddlers are starting to grasp size, color, shape and time. Read books that reinforce these concepts.

3 to 5 years. Look for books with simple plots, rhyming books and books that call for participation.

5 to 7 years. Let your child in on the act. You read a sentence or two, and then let him take a turn.

7 to 9 years. Suggest that your child read to younger siblings or visually challenged grandparents.

About Ready Sit Read! - We provide resources, tips and activities to encourage a love of reading and reinforce the importance of reading as a foundation for lifelong learning. We partner with groups like Reach Out and Read, a national nonprofit organization that promotes pediatric literacy by providing books to doctors and nurses to give to their patients.

What happened to book club? - Thanks to the thousands of kids and families across the nation who formed book clubs in their homes, communities and schools. The Ready. Sit. Read! Book Club has been discontinued, but keep looking for new programs and partnerships from Target to encourage reading and make it part of your daily life.
