I do not understand the quandaries people have experienced putting this together. I assembled it under an hour with no help, using only the hextool provided and a screwdriver with a hexdriver on it...granted, that didn't come in the box, but I read the earlier reviews and was prepared. If you can get past Step 2 of the assembly, which would be incredibly easy if you had an extra set of hands, it's a piece of cake. [...] see less

I BOUGHT 2 OF THESE BOOKCASES!! I AM THRILLED AND EXTREMELY HAPPY!! THIS BOOKCASE IS SOLID WOOD WITH NO EXCEPTIONS!! I WOULD HAVE PAID MORE. THIS BOOKCASE STANDS FIRM WITH DURABLE PARTS. I agree it is a pain to put together. Two people are needed. However, it is a great shelf once together and ready for use. The cost is a bit high, but it is real wood and not cardboard. We use it in our closet to house electronics and file containers, as well as, books. It would look great anywhere, which is why we will probably order another for our son's room. see less

We bought this bookshelf for our second son, in anticipation of selling his nursery furniture, which has a matching bookshelf. I like that this allows kids to see the titles and put away books easily on their own. The price is reasonable and it's not as bulky as some of the pieces I've seen in catalogs. It also seems like it will hold up well, and won't show scrapes or scuffs, and the edges are finished nicely. One piece of advice for assembly--make sure you have the poles and canvas lined up correctly before screwing in the second side piece. We did not check this and wound up with seams facing from and the pockets out of sorts, so we had to unscrew and re-do. Not fun! see less

I think this product is so worth how much i payed! it holds a lot of books acctually more than what i expected and its doesnt take up a lot of space. Oh and i have a 2 and 3 year old and its the perfect hight for them to take books out and put them away. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good book shelf! see less

we bought this for our daughters nursery to hold her board books. It was easy to build and very pretty. The paint is well done and not chipping, or smearing colorings. The drawer is one drawer not two and can old just a couple light weight board books. We attatched it to the wall so that it can not be pulled down onto our daughter. The backing is the typical cheap backing but works fine. Everyone asks where we got it, expecting a high end or personalized store and are always suprised to hear we got it from Target. see less

I love this bookshelf! It is a piece I want to save for my grandchildren! The piece was very easy to put together and is very sturdy. It's "child" sizing is wonderful. My daughter will be able to walk up and select her own books for 1yr. old on up. Instead of the books being in a basket or storage bin, they are held in a super cute bookcase! see less

Check those measurements! If you want a tiny bookcase, this is for you. More of an accent piece than an actual, functional bookcase. Good for kids rooms, bathrooms. I like the look and feel of the product, quality is ok. Assembly is a little tricky. Expensive for a such a tiny piece, that's my major criticism. see less

We just bought this bookcase for our sons' playroom! It's awesome! I put it together by myself with no problem (I had to flip it around and on its side, etc, but still did it by myself) of course my toddler had to hand me the screws since they were color coded!!It sits fine on our hardwoods....a reviewer had written that they had to put boards or something on the bottom to keep it straight...makes me think they might have a problem with their floor. It also seems pretty durable, not that cheap plywood that some of the bookcases I looked at seemed to be made of.There was enough space for books and then I used the bottom shelf and 1/2 of the second shelf for toys that didn't fit in the storage bins (that I also got at Target in the primary colors) so it all works together GREAT and I couldn't be happier.Definitely a good item for its price!!! see less

I bought this because I was looking for a oak finish and something that was sturdy. The book case looks exactly like the photo. I was concerned about the possible shipping damage due to other reports it arrived early and with no damage. I never put anything like this together before so it took awhile but it was not too difficult. The online video helped. Looks fine for my home office and hold books, and albums with no problem. see less

I received this bookshelf as a gift. It was packaged nicely, however, I was home when it was delivered on its first attempt, so it didn't get rifled around a bunch of times after numerous delivery attempts. The pieces were intact and nothing was damaged. All pieces were included as listed, and the instructions were easy to follow. I took my time putting it together, and it assembled nicely. It looks great and I'm very pleased! The only issue I have is that some of the exposed bolts-- before covering-- stick out a little bit, making it difficult to get the plastic covering pieces to lay flat and smooth with the wood. I think this is pretty minor, especially since they'll mostly be covered by books, however, if you're planning on using this shelf for more decorative reasons that won't cover the bolts/plastic covers, such as vases, candles, photo frames, etc., they may be noticeable. Otherwise, this is a very nice, solid piece of furniture! see less

We picked this bookcase b/c it was the perfect height to fit under our mounted TV and it looks great! Putting it together takes some doing, but is not prohibitively difficult and definitely would have been easier w/a second person to help only b/c of its size and weight (though I did just fine by myself). The bookcase is heavy and very sturdy and has ample room for books, pictures, and TV accessories (cable box, DVD player, video game console + games etc). The color is very dark, which matches our other furniture and, in all, I couldn't be more pleased with this item. see less

I bought this because I thought it would be higher quality because of the price. It's terrible. My husband put together and then was mad at me for 2 days because it "was a piece of junk and not worth [$] bucks". It's going to fall over if we put anything on it. The wood split putting a screw in and the back is a particle board that looks terrible. I'm contacting local store to see if I can deliver assembled for them to sell. Seriously disappointed. see less
