Just got this and it's better than I could have ever expected. Even at top volume crisp, clear sound with a nce bass for a small unit. Love the remote and it charges my IPOD Nano. I highly recommend this for anyone who needs an IPOD dock.
Great Value... Works wonderfully and sounds great, better than the IHome that I had (which started making noises every time I put my I-pod on it) Great gift or just for yourself worth all the money
I bought this from target about one month ago. At first it seemed alright, sound quality was decent and things seemed to function ok. Over time I have noticed that this unit is incredibly glitchy. - Sometimes the unit will stay on and speakers will hiss despite being turned off, I have to unplug and reset it on a regular basis. - I think the amp power supply may be going bad already (something I would expect after frequent use for a few years, but not after barely using it for 30 days). Sometimes it take multiple attempts to get it to sound right (I am experienced in Home Audio and these issues are not simple). - The radio works well...I will give it that. But its pretty hard to screw up a radio functionality. - The Dock for Ipods / Iphones is flimsy. It moves up and down and has give, which means it would likely break within one year of owning this product. All in all this is a very cheaply made and cheaply engineered device. You are much better off getting a different unit, or just hooking up your system to a Receiver or Home Theater Setup. I bought this item with hopes of not having to turn on my home stereo and using my expensive system everytime I wanted to watch Movies or Listen to the Radio / Ipod...it has failed miserably. Target has informed me that because I did not keep the box (which of course living in a small apartment makes sense...who doesnt keep every box with all packing materials for at least 60 days as a precautionary?)...so I will be exchanging this unit for the same thing this weekend. Perhaps I got a glitchy one...or perhaps I wont even both and just sell this on [...] when I have the new unit in hand. Perhaps if you want one, and live in LA...you should check [...])
SOUND QUALITY superior and noticeably higher quality than some of our other systems we have used in the past. In all the research and former units we had you typically hear of only a few top tier brands, well Sonos needs to be in that tier now! Holy cow impressed with the sounds and powerful base as well as adjustments that can be controlled with your mobile phone, as well as on your own computer. ASSEMBLY simple and straight forward completely simple so much so I thought I was missing something. As with previous units typically you have cords and connections and it takes an IT professional to get it setup and balanced correctly. PRICE/VALUE considering the unit you are getting it might not seem like a price that would warrant this simple unit but you will be amazed at the power, capability and uniqueness Sonos has put into this total package! Worth the cost and you will not be disappointed. OVERALL this is the first unit we have had that provides a central clearinghouse of all our music which allows us each the ability to store centrally and listen to what we desire without having to change stations manually, adjust Cds or playlists. Sonos allows us to be able to expand our system so we can place different units in each room and have music playing in each area different from one another. This flexibility allows for us to listen to sports in the family room while the kids are sleeping to their music in which I can control the sleep mode as well as alarm times on my mobile device before I go to sleep. Simply put this is a wonderful unit that can be adaptable to any size of family or living arrangements. LIMITATIONS to truly unlock the power you will want to make sure you have a wireless device that can handle all the streaming devices you might have in your household. I have not noticed any gap or hiccup in the wi-fi capabilities but just wanted to make sure this was noted if you have a slow wi-fi connection and have multiple devices you might want to ensure this is a good fit.
The set up is quite intuitive. We received both the SONOS bridge and Hifi speaker, and set them up within a few minutes.
SETUP: All it took was plugging in the speaker, downloading the application on our phones, IPADS, and what have you, and then we were able to stream music onto the speaker.
In order to use the speaker wirelessly, the SONOS bridge must be purchased and plugged into the router. Otherwise, the speaker itself has to be directly plugged into the router.
It works similar to a bluetooth device, where a button has to be pushed on the speaker and then the phone will be able to find and pair with it.
USE: The sound quality was great, it gets REALLY loud! On mobile devices, it seems to be restricted to streaming services - Songza, Pandora, Spotify, etc. and on my android phone I didn't have the option to use my own music library or my google Play account. Based on comments online, I believe it does connect to ITunes accounts though. Using the CD that came with the speaker, I connected the speaker to my home PC and was able to play music from the music library on that computer.
PROS: Easy set up, connects to most streaming music channels, great sound quality!
CONS: Unlike bluetooth speakers, it requires a wired connection to the router. This either means placing the speaker near the router or purchasing the SONOS bridge for another $100. Also, SONOS doesn't allow for access to Google Play music.
Overall, it is a great speaker for home use with an established router, where the speaker won't be moving too frequently and not used for travel. As a home speaker it is great!

This product has blown me away! I had previously used a Sony dream machine that you can dock your Iphone and use it to stream your Iphone's music, but the heavy-duty case I have on my Iphone made it really inconvenient to use since I would need to take it out of the case to dock it and play my music. This product allows you to use your home's wireless router and wirelessly connect your Iphone or your computer and magically stream your Iphone's music library or a radio station's music through the system and viola, amazing sound! I am not terribly technologically inclined when it comes to assembling these types of products, but set-up was a breeze, I connected the bridge to my router, plugged in the unit, downloaded the app to my phone and within 5 minutes, I was able to stream music from my iphone's library and local stations to the Sonos-Play5. It takes up a bit more space height-wise on my kitchen counter, but the design is fairly slim and attractive. I love the range on it. I was pulling into my driveway and my daughter's favorite song was playing and I was able to use my phone to turn on the Sonos from my car so she could finish hearing it as we walked into our home! My husband was a little disappointed that he couldn't get one of his preferred local radio stations on it, I'm not sure if that station is not one that allows streaming. The price of this unit is much higher, but the ease of use and great sound that it puts out help make up for this. I noticed that my chiropractor is using a Sonos at his office too! Overall, I think this is a great product that allows you to listen to both radio stations and your favorite albums in your Iphone with just the push of a button of the app on your phone!

The bluetooth feature is amazing and has the ability to connect to the many devices that I use such as iPhone, iPad, Mp3 players, etc. This little speaker box packs an amazing sound giving you the ability to hear sounds in songs that you didn't realize existed. Excellent purchase!
I have been waiting for the ihome to come out for the iphone 5 and I love this dock! The only issue is it does not fit with a case on the phone. Apparently due to some Apple requirements and the rubber strip on the bottom, it does not work with a case on it.
There are some easy hacks you can do. You can easily remove the rubber strip as it is just taped on and if your phone has a wider cut out at the bottom then it will probably work with your phone.
Now, just because it doesn't fit the case doesn't mean I don't recommend this dock, I obviously do. The case thing doesn't bother me too much but I am sure after days of taking it out of the case every time I want to listen to music I may change my mind.

Forget it if you have even the slimmest case!!!!!!
I need a job at ihomes research department, why do they continue to make products that will not work with a case!!!!! I bet 99 percent of apple users have a case and my case is super thin and this won't even think about connecting. Hope this saves someone the time of trying to see if it works.
