Just ordered this, tried it, and liked it. Hoping that the manicure stays for 2 weeks, but so far it's been a few days, and no chipping. The only thing I don't like is that the led light stays on for less than 45 seconds at a time, so has to be pushed a second time to finish curing the nails. The instructions were easy to follow. Wasn't crazy about the red polish that came with it, but bought another gel nail polish color that worked with the led light with no problem.
This gel nail system is easy to use and works great. I had never had gel nails prior to using Red Carpet Manicure, but was surprised by how easy it is to catch on and get a great manicure. The polish doesn't chip for a few weeks, so the only downside is that I don't get to change nail colors as often as I would using normal nail polish. I reccomend this product for anyone wanting to try gel nails - it's fun and the finished product looks salon quality. Love it!
The lamp included is great, but the polish is not. I was lucky if the polish lasted even a week. The lamp is awesome for the price. When I used the lamp with the salon quality polish, Gellish, OPI, etc, my polish last two weeks easy. Just like when I went to the salon!
I would recommend buying just the lamp separate and getting better polish.
If you like a nice, SHINY long lasting
IF not going to do dishes ea day or garden
manicure, this is a great little kit. I received it as a holiday gift from my son and I LOVE IT. I don't always have time to go to the salon for a GEL set.
I have alot of experience applying stickers so the gel stickers were a breeze. The gel top coat is a snap to apply and cure. Do it 2x for better results
I advise you apply ALL stickers first
Apply the gel to ALL nails on one hand first
cure ea 2 x
clean cured nails w/wipe
Finish other hand....all in all about 30-40 min
BEST thing....you are DRY immediately and no nail polish smell!
I saw this advertised in a magazine and was skeptical. The product is advertised as easy to use and providing mirror like shine for up to 2 weeks. Having never used nail strips, I was concerned about application, but it was a breeze. Once application was completed, my nails were super shiny and looked like a professional manicure. Finally, as to the claim that it lasts up to 2 weeks, this manicure did last me a full 2 weeks before it started to chip around the cuticle area due to my nails growing out.
Added bonus, after removing the strips, I applied a normal polish and finished it with the gel topcoat and LED lamp. The results were just as lovely and I anticipate it will extend the life of regular polish. While I don't expect this to last as long as the strips, it looks good for now and is a lower cost alternative to purchasing gel strips every 2 weeks at 15 dollars
I have used the sally hansen nail strips before so have good practice with that part of the application which does take time and patience if you have it. I am a nurse and wash my hands constantly so when i saw the gel version I was very excited! I have used this product for the first time and am very pleased. Next time I plan to make sure I leave (a little) room between the strip and the nail so that the gel top coat seals properly because a couple of nails needed resealing because I secured the strip too close to my cuticles. I will try this product again and love the pale pink color that helps me fly under the radar at work. (nail polish technically not allowed)
The nail tips are difficult to line up on your own - especially on your dominant hand, using your non-dominant hand. At least two fingers on my dominant hand have crooked tips, the center of the arched tip is not in the center of my nail. The "downward motion" filing removal of the excess white tip still resulted in chips at the edges of the nails. I did continue the entire process, doing only one hand at a time. Then re-filed all fingers to remove the chipped edges. Then reapplyed clear polish to the edges and used the lamp again. Maybe this would work a lot better if you had a friend to help? Also - when peeling the nail tips from their protective double plastic covers some tips got pulled to the wrong plastic cover - and this made the process even more difficult.
To start off, I already had the sensationail gel kit, I used Sally Hansen gel polish with the sensationail base and top coat, primer and cured with the sensationail light, it worked perfectly! Also, this stayed on for two weeks before I removed it out of boredom, not because it had to, I had zero chipping in those two weeks, none of it was even starting to lift up on the edges! I'm so impressed! With sensationail colors, it was always peeling up by the end of week one... I know since I used both brands, it may be that I FINALLY learned to apply it correctly and that's why I had such great results, but I am still very happy with this product, especially since I had no problems using the polish with the kit I already had! Super excited that there are more options on the market for at home gel manicures!
I was really excited about this purchase, but it was difficult to get the film to lay flat on my nails, and even if I did manage to get all of the winkles out for one nail, I certainly could not do it for all my nails. I tried multiple times, hoping it was just a learning curve, but no luck, worst 30 bucks I've spent in a while.
