The knife set was a gift on a wedding registry andI I had diificulties acquiring other items from the registry either due to shipping restrictions or the Target store not providing equivalent items.
I have several other expensive knives and as far as cutting these seem to be the best! They are sharp and smooth. The only downfall is that they rust easily if you put them in the dishwasher or lay them out to dry. You HAVE to wash and dry them immediately. I made the mistake of doing both. They are a little bit rusted and don't look as pretty as my other knives but I use them everyday over them.
I love these knifes, I have had them for about 5 months now and they are still very sharp and I have not had any rust problems like, but my dishwasher does do a really good drying cycle. I have not had to sharpen them at all so far and I use some everyday. They come clean very easy. I really like the handle feel on the bigger knifes very comfortable to hold. The steak knifes are serrated and the big knifes are smooth blade except the utility knife is still serrated. Great knifes and good price (It got them for regular price but I have seen them for $ before, on sale)
I ordered this item with money from our wedding thinking it looked like a great set. I had it shipped to my house and when I recieved it, the box was in perfect condition, but the case was crushed...made of thin tin like material and the trim was crushed as well, exposing a CARDBOARD layer between the pieces of tin...not even wood. The handle is a very light weight plastic that feels like it will break if I carry it, I was very disappointed...will be returning it for a different set that is better quality.
I've had these pans for about a month and they already warped. There very light weight. The handles are very thin. I'm pretty sure if I was to squeeze them hard I could they would bend. The handles get hot while cooking also when cleaning them. Don't buy this set!!
I am enjoying my pans. I have had to do some research on how to care for them though. Yes, heat them and then add oil is a good idea.
That way it does not get too hot before you put in the food and splatter all over. Make sure to add the oil slowly. Cooking spray does not work the best. It tends to leave brown spots. They come off with a product
recommended by Kitchenaid. I accidently got the pan too hot and the bottom turned coppery colored. I tried vinegar, baking soda, and dish soap. It would not come off. I went and got this product and it saved my pan. Vinegar works well to polish. Absolutely no dishwasher for
these pans. I repeat no dishwasher!! Also Medium heat is high enough
to boil water in these pans. I did wash them once in the dishwasher and they turned bluish. Vinegar polished them back up, but I will be hand washing from now on. I have been cooking for twenty years and otherwise am happy with my pans.
I grew up on stainless, but for the past decades I've been using non-stick pans. Now with the evidence about non-stick, I asked for new pans for Christmas. I did a lot of research on stainless steel pans and how to treat them.
I learned new things in my research.
1- No dishwasher
2- Hot Pan - Cold Oil
Just say no to the dishwasher.
I used to put the oil into the pan and then heat them up. According to my research that is exactly wrong. Stainless will act non-stick if you heat the pan THEN put in the oil/butter.
Foods do have a tendency to stain cookware. [...] is a dry cleaning powder that helps clean the pans to the just-like-new state.
I find these pans wonderful and a good buy. Make sure you understand the difference between stainless and non-stick, and how to take care of them, and they will last longer than any non-stick pans you get.

Love this cookware !!! Fabulous!!! Best Cookware!!!
Love, Love, Love this cookware!!! This is a great stainless steel cookware set. I was so tired of the peeling teflon, non-stick pans, so upgraded to stainless. This set is great! I cook everyday, usually three times a day, my cookware must be durable and easy to use. I love every piece. From eggs, soups, stir fry, rice, beans, chicken and rice, gravy steak, fudge, peanut brittle, you name it and I cook it - I cook everything you can imagine and everything turns out perfectly. These pans cook everything like an expensive pro set. I especially love the easy clean up. These pans look beautiful, even after every day use. We have an old gas propane stove which is hard to cook anything on low, but that is no problem with these pots and pans. Thank you KitchenAid and thank you Target for such a great price on this set of wonderful cookware!!!
On the box there says "All heat sources except induction" when I received it but I gave it a shot anyway. I put in some water in each of them and turned it on. It works for all 4 of them, and I see bubbles more or less evenly across that is only limited by the size of the coil in the induction cooker (5 to 7" unless you have the large, mounted ones).
Later on I find out on the bottom of the pots and pans there says "induction stainless steel". Weird.
Can't say about the durability but given the 4-star in 24 reviews of a very similar copper bottom cook set, I expect it to be good. The two sets share the 5-qt dutch oven, 2-qt saucepan and the 8" frying pan.
Some measurements (approx):
8" frying pan: bottom is 5.5" across.
2-qt saucepan: 7" across (not including the rim), 3-5/8" tall (from the inside), with "Max 2,1 L 2,2 Qt Max" and markings 0,5/1,0/1,5 qt/L on the inside (no cups).
Large fryer: 10.25" across, 3" tall, no markings.
Dutch oven: 9.5" across, 4.75" tall, with "Max 5 L 5,5 Qt Max" and markings 1/1,5/2/.../5 L/5,5 qt.
Steamer: 9.25" open and 5.5" closed.
I bought these for my son and daughter-in-law because they needed something sturdy to learn to cook with. They love this set. My son says they are really easy to use, food doesn't stick and the sizes are great. They really like the copper bottoms and glass lids. As they are learning to cook, they needed something that can take some scrubbing and were leery of non-stick pans. These look and feel almost as nice as my much more expensive pans. I only gave 4 stars for durability, because we don't know yet how they will last in the long run. I got them on sale. and overall, they were a great deal and I would buy them again, as a gift or for myself.
Don't buy this set if you really want something with non stick coatings! But if you like to really cook and use a little oil in cooking, this cookware really performs! Heavy enough to really function well without being awkward in weight. I found easy to clean and maintain. Enjoy!
The newly weds were delighted to get this quality cookware for their brand new kitchen. The happy couple like to cook together; this cook set has inspired them to make some amazing meals for friends as well as for themselves.
