Just like I remembered as a kid

[...] this is nearly exactly like the old ones we had as children ourselves! There is a slight difference in the way the "needle" reads the music from the "records" but functionally it's all the same. In fact, the new design allows for much more rugged play from a younger age group. My one year old son and my three year old niece play hard with this toy and it holds up VERY well. We have had it for two months now with no signs of wear or tear. It promotes fine tuning of a myriad of motor skills. Overall it is a really great toy and I would recommend it to anyone. see less

I had the original versio ... see more

I had the original version as a child and was thrilled to share the same toy with my girls. it was a HUGE disappointment. not only did it cost me [$],but the records would not play for more than a few seconds. JUNK! I can't believe Fisher Price would lower themselves to sell a piece of junk like this. As mentioned in other reviews, it looks the same, but it is nothing like the original. see less

I purchased this for my son, since he is always interested in our CDs. I had one as a child and it was durable and fun. The one I purchased does not hold a charge at all. We have replaced the batteries five times, it has hardly played music at all for us. A real bummer. Fisher Price will not replace, since they do not even manufacture it. Apparently, they licensed the Fisher Price name to a company called "Basic Fun" who you would have to contact if you wanted to try to replace. A hassle, unfun, and I don't even want another one. Hopefully Target will take it back without the original packaging. If you take your chances and buy anyway, keep the packaging in case it stops working... see less
