I love the size of this can and the fact that it keeps the smell in, but that's about it. We looked at the iTouch cans, we decided they were too expensive because we wanted the recycle and garbage in one. So, we decided to purchase two of these, which was still more than we wanted to pay for plastic, but this one seems to be a little heavier quality than other similar cans. One other thing I don't care for is the fact that whether it's on the carpet or the kitchen floor, it scoots when using the foot pedal. I'll have to find some rocks to but in the bottom. see less

We had this trash can in our kitchen for 3-4 months and then the latch part broke with normal use. I would not recommend buying this unless you plan on buying one every few months. see less

After reading reviews from others I decided to order two of these trash receptacles for my kitchen. I have been having problems with my two labs getting into the garbage! [...] I love these cans and highly recommend to others! I bought one for dog food and one for garbage. The dog container fits a 35 lb bag of food perfectly. The garbage can fits a 30/33 gallon bag. I might try a 35 gallon bag as the 30/33 does stretch a bit, but the bag fits length wise awesome! Other postives - latching lids, nice looking, take up less space than a round can, made nice, and easy to put together. Thinking of getting another for the patio! see less

Great trash can. Wide opening to put trash in yet small and compact. The touchless entry is nice. However you will need 4 D batteries unless you buy the plug adapter and keep the can near an outlet. Good design, stylish. Again the only downside is that batteries or the plug were not included. Happy overall with the purchase see less

This trash can is great. I've owned it for 2 years and it still looks like new. The foot pedal is wide and very sturdy. It's the first trash can that I have owned with a pedal that didn't break. I was a bit leary spending a cheaper price on a trash can, but after getting it home and using it, I love it. I love the black color. I'm a bit onthe OCD side with cleanliness and I hate a dirty trashcan. It holds quite a bit and the target trash bags work great. The liner holds well and doesn't fall inside. I love then step-on feature, but seems like I end up using my hands anyway. Creature of habit I suppose. Two thumbs up! see less

like this garbage alot. it is lightweight and so far seems durable.foot pedal opening is roomy enough for my size ten foot,but i find myself opening lid by hand more often than using foot pedal.only gave it 4 stars because lid mechanism pushes thru the bag this no big deal. i would recomend to a friend. see less

So far, things have gone well. The can itself is very sturdy and the pedal appears to work very well. I have seen a lot of other reviews on step cans and people mention how they eventually break. For now, I'm pretty confident with it!I really like the oval profile because we have it in the kitchen along a wall/walkway and I think it keeps out of the way even if it's only a couple inches. see less

This is my 2nd 9 Start Motion Sensor Trash Can. I tried the 1st trash can as a method to deter my dogs from tipping and/or digging in the garbage and it worked. When it broke due to mishandling the garbage was exposed and fair game. I installed this recycler under my kitchen sink for recycling aluminum cans, and just love it! It was easy to install on the cabinet door, and is just the right size. It's light weight, yet very sturdy material. I use a plastic bag to line it because I don't want to get the inside of the base bag dirty because it's so nice. The handle makes it easy to transport the goods when it's full to my larger outside container. This is definitely A KEEPER! Keep up the great work Rubbermaid! see less

We currently started one-stream recycling, all items go into one container. I bought this product as an alternative to bulky recycle bins. I was so pleased with the ease of use, I purchased several more for christmas presents for famiy members. This also works well mounted on the wall in the garage. This trashcan is best appreciated for its classic simple styling. The mechanism is simple, unlike electronic i-touch type which is bound for failure. Get the stainless lid. My plastic lid broke from the plastic hinge as well after I had a visitor attempt to manually close the lide. Simplehuman was a pleasure to work with and sent me the stainless steel replacement lid. I would buy the same trashcan again and would choose Simplehuman over other companies. see less

We love this trash can (if such emotion is compatible with a garbage receptacle!) The delayed close feature is something you wouldn't think about, but now couldn't live without! What the other user posted about the lid is true, but if you contact simplehuman directly, they will send you a free replacement lid...and it is all stainless steel parts...much more sturdy than the cheaper plastic parts that do break in a year. The customer service at simplehuman has been fantastic...they got back to me within 24 hours and the new piece has already been shipped. Hopefully this helps!! see less

My husband couldn't understand why I would spend so much money on a trash can, but I can tell you this is worth every dime! The lid soft closes, so there is no banging (especially nice with not-careful children around)~ The bag tucks nicely around the edge of the can and any excess can be pushed through the little hole in the back just for this purpose. (I have never had a bag rip and I am using off brand bags, by the way) All of this is on a removable plastic can that slips into the metal one. This prevents any drips from harming the stepper mechanism, and makes for super easy clean up if a bag does leak.The other thing I just LOVE about this can is that its steel is brushed and fingerprint resistant. It doesn't say that on the box or anything, but I've had other stainless steel stuff that just held onto any prints and they wouldn't come clean. THIS can comes clean with a little window cleaner and a rag. Quick wipe down, maybe a buff with a dry part of the rag and it looks like new again. With kids around, that is just amazing! I think I'll be sticking with Simplehuman for my trash can purchases in the future! It was well worth the extra money for a can that will last for years and years. I was tired of the plastic ones that just never come clean. This is exactly the way to go. see less

These stainless steel trash cans are really overpriced. And this one is horribly designed. Just try getting the trash bag out when it gets full. It catches (every damned time) and then tears open. And then you still can't get it out. This morning, after months of trying to like this thing, I was unable to get the trash bag out after it tore open. Rather than remove the bag I threw the whole can out with the bag - good riddance. $60 in the trash...quite literally. see less
