This thing is perfect for riding my bike with my netbook. I have bikes with two different wheel sizes - the forward pocket is deceptively deep below the pen holders/organizers. I keep both a 24" and 26" bike tube in there for a spares for each wheel size. I have a small pump that fits in the interior pocket of the forward one, keep patches in the webbed area, a wrench and tire gauge in the pen holders and the detachable key holder is great for my bike locks.
The big main pocket laptop sleeve holds my netbook AND Kindle. The side zip up pocket fits my Bluetooth mouse and thumb drives. The interior device pocket holds my rolled up USB cables and charger leaving my main pocket empty for whatever.
The tightening strap on the side is great for an S-Hook caribiner to secure metal water bottles over bumps.
It's survived three different wrecks.
I have the orange and gray/silver version of this bag. I love it. I use it to carry my things to and from office commute or on any travels longer than around the block. It's taller than it is wide, so it's great for shorter people like me with out looking like the bag is slowly engulfing me. The straps are pretty thin in width - also good for the petite person or kids - so it doesn't rub or press against the chest and shoulder if your shoulders are not broad enough for most packs straps.
This bag is pretty tough - I've had it for a few months now. I've crammed it to the max - and I've been known to be quite a pack rat - then took it on and off, held it by a strap, the handle, etc and never a complaint from it... no stretched stitches, groans, rips or threats. My 14 inch laptop fit nicely with room for tablet and other items along side - however, the laptop sleeve is moreso for tablets & netbooks. The back is well squishily padded.
The Swiss Gear City Pack is a great little bag that's big enough to carry everything you need. The organization in this bag is the best I've seen yet. It's held up really well after one year of regular use.
Four main compartments
1. Small exterior pocket sized for keys and cellphone.
2. Medium interior suitable for maps or small guidebooks plus key fob, card or cell pockets, 2 pen holders. Smaller pocket inside suitable for wallet, lipstick, or small notebook.
3. Large main interior for magazines, books, or netbooks. One interior pocket just the right size for tablets or iPads and a second near the top of this compartment for music players with an earbud opening.
There are two side pockets, one for water and one for smaller items like snacks, keys, tickets, or passes. The handle at the top is has an interior cable for strength. In spite of all this, the back is remarkably light and comfortable.
