Bought bike to upgrade old bike. Have had over a year. Ride up to 50 miles at a time. No problems, great bike for price as long as your tall enough. I have side bags, handle bar bag and back rack bag. Have had over 30 lbs of gear and bike rides great. Needs tune up due to over 400 miles put on in past month and a half. Would buy it again. I have had this bike for 3 months and love it! My sister got one first, I tried hers and liked it so much I got one for me! It is very comfortable and rides smoothly. I've had to adjust the seat and handle bars a few times to get it just right for me, but now I have it exactly how I want it. I've ridden 3 or 4 times between 10-14 miles and numerous shorter rides. I have a bike trainer so I can ride it indoors for the winter. Previously, I rode a mountain bike. With this bike, I am able to sit more upright than before, taking any pressure off my neck and shoulders, making it more comfortable. I plan to use my new bike for 2-3 sprint triathlons this coming summer and for all my training. I am new at triathlons and didn't feel ready to invest [$] or more on a racing bike for a new hobby. I think this bike will benefit me for a long time. This bike meets my needs of exercising, triathlons, and just biking around the neighborhood with my kids. see less

This was the third bike seat that I purchased and the only one that was comfortable enough for me to keep. I am a plus sized woman and was miserable with the tiny bike seat on my new Schwinn bike. This seat is super soft and large enough that when you get tired you can easily move back onto the seat and sit up straight. I just rode on a seven mile bike trail in Northern California and after the ride my legs were tired but my bottom was ready for another seven miles because of this seat. see less

I challenge anyone to find a similar, new bike of this quality at this price point. I honestly don't believe it can be done. Both my son and I have ridden the bike for a few days now, and the ride is smooth, stable, comfortable, and fast. It handles well and has a large, comfortable seat. Both front and back brakes are strong and the 7 speed grip shifter is fast and smooth. It's lightweight, has a built-in pant-protector on the front gear where the chain sits inside of a raised channel around the gear, and a kickstand. It's a great green color, imho, and looks even better in person. For the money, you just can't beat this bike. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another, spend more for it or recommend one to my friends. In this case, cheap doesn't mean cheap quality. It's rare the two come together, but in this case it's a great bike at a great price. Good luck to you, and happy, safe riding. see less

I don't have one of these but the only reason is I have 2 bikes that I don't have room for already. I own a Schwinn Tourist which has the same components that this bike has. It's not a "Top Quality" bicycle but I have one of those too and I paid [$] for it. This one is great for the money. Women can ride it comfortably due to the slanting frame. Now that it's on sale, I might go back and get it anyway. I think I will. It would make a good spare women's bike. I just need bike hangers for the garage. see less

First of all this bike looks pretty sharp and I get a lot of comments on it. And if it's assembled correctly, it rides like a dream, very smooth. Effortless pedaling you just kinda glide across the street. No problems with it yet. Its fall here in Florida and I can't seem to ride it enough now that the weather is perfect. If your looking for a good quality hybrid for under 300, look no further you wont be disappointed. I love this bike! see less

First and for most, this bike is not actually a Schwinn. It is made by a company called Pacific Coast Cycles and is built to Schwinn specifications. Schwinn just puts their name on it. I bought the bike right off the self (which was built buy an employee i'd imagine) and had to take it to a local bike shop to get everything properly adjusted.That being said, $13 later and i have never had a problem. Brakes, shifters, derailers ect. have all worked without any rubbing or anything. I have taken this bike off road (through a muddy field, down steps, though large holes) and the shocks work wonders and the bike still works like the day i got it. My only complaint with this bike would be the trouble i had fitting some of my old accessories on it. Although it was nothing five minutes and a little ingenuity couldn't fix.Even though is is not technically a Schwinn, it runs like one and is a great bike for both on and off road. see less

I just got the bike 2 weeks ago, and during my first ride, I noticed that the front derailleur was dragging against the chain constantly, and the front left brake pad was dragging against the rim. After going online and finding out how to adjust the parts, I got it working properly. It's just a shame that whoever put it together didn't really know what they were doing... The bike itself is amazing. It's super light, rides wonderfully, and looks VERY good. The larger size of the bike is good for someone like me, who is well over 6 feet tall. Overall, I definitely think the bike deserves a 5 star rating. see less

I have been riding this bike regularly for a month now, and so far have had no serious problems or issues, and I am very pleased with my purchase. The vast majority of my riding is urban commuting on mostly flat, paved roads. I have done some hilly rides, which is a hard with the single speed, but not impossible. I did a ton of research when I was looking for a bike, because I wanted something pretty specific, and I didn't have a lot of money to spend. This bike fit the bill perfectly. I wanted 1) a men's road bike that looked nice, 2) drop-down handlebars with front and rear brakes, 3) a single speed or fixed gear, and 4) it had to be lightweight. I live in a fourth floor apartment (no elevator), so the weight was perhaps the most important issue for me. This bike weighs less than 15 pounds, which is pretty great considering the price! The only issue I've had is that the you cannot raise the handlebars (the headset has some spacers which you can remove to lower the handlebars, but they come from the factory at the highest setting). The style of headset is threadless (as opposed to threaded), which I didn't realize also meant single-height. I have gotten used to it now, but it took some adjusting in my riding style and seat height to make it comfortable. Oh, I should add - I am a female, 5'7", and I'm right at the bottom of the height range for this bike. I clear the crossbar with about an inch to spare, so I wouldn't get this bike if you are any shorter! Overall:Pros:- You can't beat the price for this type of bike- Looks great- Components are not fancy, but so far seem to be solid- Lightweight- Agile, quick riding and maneuvering- Saddle is comfortable and cleans easily- Assembly was straightforward- Wheel hubs are bolt-on (not quick-release), which was also important for me living in a city; the saddle, however, is quick-release, which is nice for making adjustments on the fly and is easier to take with me if I lock up outside.- Tires and tubes have held up fine so far - good tread on the tires.- The frame has bolts for a bottle cage- Although I may take them off to save even more weight, the kickstand and chain cover are nice perks.Cons:- Threadless headset - would have preferred threaded if I knew the difference before buying- The white grip tape will start to get gray very quickly and is difficult to clean- The instruction manual is pretty useless (it covers every kind of bike Schwinn produces, so it's very generic), though assembly is pretty common-sense.Make sure to visit the Schwinn website to read all the specs before buying. see less

It's as if the cold somehow broke the pump, I'm guessing the seals inside are cheap rubber and couldn't take the below freezing cold of a typical garage. This bike comes labeled as suitable for riders 5'2" or taller. I ordered the bike for my wife - that's her height. I am 6'1", and with the suspension seatpost fully inserted, it was almost a stretch for me. I contacted Schwinn, and they offered to sell me a regular post as replacement. I bought a solid seatpost through [...], and that helps my wife, but it's still a little too tall for her to be really comfortable with the bike yet. And with the replacement post all the way in, the rear reflector won't mount. Otherwise, it's a smooth riding, solid bike, with good components. She likes the coaster brake, and the 3-speed hub is good for casual rides. see less

Excellent Bike for the price. I live in Colorado and I do ride this bike in the mountains a lot, my first ride on this bike was at 10,000 feet 25 mile trip on trails and off road. I have broken a lot of things but not on this bike its a tight bike. The one thing I had to upgrade was the seat to cheap to ride for a long trip. see less

I picked this sweet ride back in February and have never looked back. I have been on a number of local trials and ride it every evening on an 8 mile loop around the neighborhood. Only thing I would say is a let down, is the tires them selves. They just seem cheaply made and very thin. I will be upgrading the tires very soon. Additionally there isnt really a place to mount a water bottle and or bicycle pump, It just maybe due to the style of bike. Other then that one item that can be approved upon, I have no complaints and enjoy riding it. see less

I love this bike! It's not the same as a [...], but for [...] it has dual suspension, off-road tires, Shimano shifters, and actually looks like a more expensive bike. The frame is aluminum, but it is still a little heavy, probably because of the extra suspension components. I love the shifter, you flick it with your thumb and it shifts smoothly. I've seen reviews on other websites that say parts aren't tightened or make too much noise, i think that's the fault of the installer at the store, but mine seems to have been assembled correctly because i have had no problems with it. I don't do any serious mountain trails so i can't say how it would hold up under a lot of stress, but for riding paved trails and light off-road i have no complaints. Definitely recommend it for those of you who are like me and don't have the budget for a top of the line bike. see less

Received my new Gridlock yesterday. The assembly was fairly straightforward however I never did find any assembly instructions. I found several bulletins for every mechanism on the bike and a large manual written in several languages covering several bikes. Bottom line is I did get it together while watching the evening news and managed to ride around the driveway a few laps to adjust the rear derailer. After that I brought it back in to add my Walds baskets to each side of the rear rack, Schwinn lighting, speedometer and water bottle holder then took it back out for a lap around the neighborhood. This morning I rode my new commuter bike to work in the dark, rear flasher flashing, headlight bouncing and me breathing hard because even though they call it "Comfort" you still need to pedal. At this point I believe I purchased the right bike. I need to wear business/business casual and needed the fenders and chain guard. The ergo hand grips, cushion seat mounted on a spring post and hydraulic front forks are the icing on the cake needed to keep me riding. see less

We returned this bike twice due to in-store assembly. If you return a bicycle, they are required to notify the person who did the assembly and they will check it out before authorizing a return. Bike 1. The front wheel was not straight. The axle nut was bent and could not be removed. This prevented the tire from sitting in the fork correctly. Bike 2. The front wheel was not straight again. This time both nuts were bent. The quick release on the seat was also installed incorrectly. The release was positioned against the post preventing you from using it. The thumb screw was stripped to bare metal. Bike 3. The screw holding on the chain guard was too long and rubbed against the chain and had to be shortened. The front brakes were sticking which I adjusted after reading the manual. The front brake cables were run incorrectly. Whenever turning the bike to the right, the cable would tighten which engaging the brakes unexpectedly. I reran the cable correctly and now all is good see less

It was very difficult to pedal also, and I even tried it. My daughter has a [...] bike that is also a 20" and we bought it at an independent bike shop. He can easily ride this. I will take him to get a bike at a bike shop. Although we will have to spend more on it, the quality is far superior. Even the kickstand on the falcon is low quality. Got this Schwinn pump a few weeks ago because it had a gauge. The gauge only goes up to 100 psi, which left me guessing a bit when I had to pump up my road bike tires beyond 100. After only a few uses, I found the pedal was beginning to bend to the right as I pumped. I couldn't figure out a way to straighten it, and soon after the metal starting cracking at one of the joints. The pumping mechanism also just stopped functioning. So, bottom line, it's a cheap pump that only lasts for a few uses. Definitely wouldn't recommend getting it unless it's the last pump in the world and you desperately need one to pump up your bike to escape from a zombie invasion or something. see less

You cannot trust the stor ... see more

You cannot trust the store assembly of any bike - as it can lead to serious issues. When I got mine I took it to my local bike shop and had them tune it. It works great! I'm 5'11" and 250 lbs, a big guy, and have taken it down some moderately technical mountain bike trails. I did however change the freewheel to a Shimano MF-TZ31 to tackle some steep uphills. I also swapped the stock saddle for a Bontrager SSR and threw on a Schwinn cyclocomputer. I'm not a big fan of the twist shifters but they have worked very well for me. The Promax disc brakes are actually not bad at all. On one of my trail rides I went downhill and reached 25 MPH and had no issues stopping. The pedals are a great fit for my wider feet and my position on the bike feels just right. I was able to keep up with my friends that have bikes that are many times more expensive than mine. see less

First off I bought this in store so it was pre-assembled "there job was less than adequate. The rims feel slightly bent or warped "again could be how it was assembled". The shocks on the front work quite nicely when hitting large bumps or dips and the hydraulic brakes stop extremely fast. The chain does feel like it pops a lot but then again I've not tuned the bike since I bought it on 3/19/2012 "road about 40miles". After getting off the trails today I took my son out for a ride with his bike in the community and the Schwinn seemed to be about average on the road. The seat is very stiff with lack of padding however it ride nicely for a mountain bike "seems pretty light too compared to a 10 year olds Bike". If your looking to be an expert rider, hit heavy trails or need a bike that will suit major riding this is not the bike for you got to a real Cycle Store. However if you are like me going out once a month to the trails ride in the community and for fun this is an excellent buy. see less

I've had this bike for about a week and here's what I've noticed so far... The good - The brakes, the frame, the front shock, and the 29" wheels all seem to be good quality. I'm 5'11" and riding on the 29" wheels is much more comfortable since I no longer feel like my knees are up in my chest while seated. Now for the bad - the shifters are possibly the worst shifters I've ever seen on a bike. They barely work at all. I'm not sure if it's Schwinn using cheap parts or the Target employees not knowing how to tune a bike, but it's really bad. I'm going to replace the shifters as soon as I can. Also, the pedals are cheap plastic. Easy to replace, but disappointing on a bike that cost [$]. Overall the bike is a bit disappointing that it works so poorly from the get-go, but the wheels/frame/shock/brakes make it a good starter bike if you're willing to at least tune it up. A 29er from a bike shop would probably set you back [$[ or more, so [$] with crummy shifters isn't too terrible see less

Like pretty much everything in life... you get what you pay for. However I give it 5 stars overall as you can't beat a bike like this for the price. It looks like a more expensive bike. This is not a comfort or racing bike but it'll get you from here to there. The flat and low handlebar takes a little getting used to, someone here got an extender which is a great idea. Get it tuned up once you get it and enjoy. see less

This is a good bike for beginners. It was recommended to me by a local bike shop. This bike is not the best mountain bike on the market, but for [$$] it's hard to beat. The fork is an SR Suntour XCM with 100mm of travel. The rebound is slow, but it works pretty well. The lockout is very good. The shifter may need adjusting if it slips, and it is not the best. The shifts are mostly smooth, but kind of slow.The seat is pretty comfortable, but I noticed dirt doesn't come off it easily. The mechanical disc brakes are very good, and stop quickly. Be warned, however, that they squeal like a dying cat. I haven't found a way to fix that yet, and it is very annoying. You get used to it after a while. Unfortunately, the bike is 41.9 LBS, which is very heavy. The gearing is very good for hills. Overall, it is a good mountain bike for starters, but if you are an experienced biker looking to do large drops or just want more performance, you may want to shell out more cash for a nicer bike. see less

After my son got his memory foam seat, I decided that I needed a comfortable seat for my 10yr old Schwinn mountain bike. Which, btw, is still in great condition. I think highly of Schwinn because of my experience with their bikes and wanted their replacement seat. While it felt durable and well made it did not have the comfort I was looking for. It was wider than my stock seat but that was about it. Luckily, my son was happy to trade seats because the Schwinn seat was slightly smaller than the memory foam. I gave it 3 stars because I was looking for comfort and didn't get it. see less

The bike was already assembled at the store and I only needed to attach my basket, inflate the tires, and off I went. I got this bike last night at Target but I got one that is blue and vintage burgandy looking with a blue and white seat. I aired up the tires in the store with the tire pumps that were on the shelf before I left, and went out and rode for about and hour and a half and had no problems with flat tires as some other reviewers have mentioned. The front fender was rattling a little bit, but I just kind of "nudged" it forcefully with my foot and it quit. The seat on this bike is very comfortable. My husband and I sat on one of the Magna bikes that were in the store, and it was seriously painful to sit on, and this bike is a thousand times more comfortable for barely more. Overall, I am very pleased with this bike, and I am going to purchase the wicker basket to attach to the handle bars this week. see less

I have a Huffy Cranbrook Cruiser and needed a basket to carry library books etc. I had this installed in 5 minutes and it couldn't have been easier. I like that you can lift the basket off the bracket. I agree with the other reviewer that this basket probably can't handle alot of weight, but it's perfect for my needs. It adds to the retro style of my bike, and is a great price - I've seen similar baskets for double the price! see less

I bought a hybird bike at target and I was lucky enough to find this basket in the store. It was cute and I thought that I would need a basket to carry items on the bike trail. It was easy to put on and looks cute on my bike. I ordered a basket liner to help protect the basket from damage. Basket does hold alot of items and is easy to remove with the clip attachment. The price could not be better. I have seen baskets like this one for alot more money. It holds three bottles or water and snacks with no problem. I could see if someone was using it to hold heavier items that this basket may not be a good choice and the only support is with the clip attachment but it is perfect for me use. Adding liner makes it fun and adds alot of color to my bike. see less

Very satisfied with the bike. It is light, very comfortable to ride, and quite fast. The seat is big and comfy. I am not a tall person, so the back reflector had to be taken off to allow for the seat to go as low as possible, and that was OK. Riding it feels like cruising, the shocks of road bumps are well-absorbed. It is also a beautiful bike, silver with tasteful faux brown leather seat and matching handles. The wheels are 28 inch, but that is a bonus, not a problem, even for a shortish person like me. see less

I'm a beginner. I have been riding a schwinn cruiser bike but it was impossible to pedal up hill or on rougher ground. I decided I needed a bike with gears and this was well priced. Today was my first time really riding it and I'm thrilled. I rode 17 miles, mostly down hill. The bike did great, it was fast and very sturdy. Overall it was comfortable to ride, seat was a little uncomfortable but what do you expect when riding that far. I'm deffinetly on the heavy side but I felt completely comfortable and safe. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a affordable, comfortable ride. see less

I paid an extra $40 in shipping fees to get this delivered to my house (my car is tiny) only to find out that I need to borrow a truck to go and pick it up from the [....] And...they were supposed to deliver yesterday on my day off but it's a day over the business day limit. The bike is awesome but really really inconvenient to buy from target.com If I pay $40 in shipping, it should be on time and at my house. Grrrr! see less

I got this bike a few months ago and have recently been getting out on it 3-4 times a week for a 20-30 min ride and I LOVE it. I am hard to fit for a bike with long legs, a very short torso, and short arms and this bike is a perfect fit. It was even better once I realized that I could adjust the up/down angle of the seat. The seven speeds are just enough to get up small hills, ride against the wind, or go full-out on the flat. I will ride this bike until it falls apart, and then I'll get another Gateway! see less

I have a 3 1/3 yr old and 16 month old boy. PRO's: Light...you dont feel it.ANYONE can put it together...I did in 2 minutes straight from the box!CONS:*My sons legs are REALLY cramped in there. *The straps are flimsy and not very good...I dont use them at this point because they are just straps, not necessarily anything a child would consider comfortable.* Its been around 99* here, therefore I have to completely roll back the rainshade, and even the screen OFF the kids or it gets VERY steamy in there...so...in summer or warm seasons...you would NOT want to use even the screen...not enough air gets in. *There should be something to block the kids eyes from the sun...my baby was screaming because the sun was bothering his eyes.* Where you attach the bike to the trailer (the "coupler") slides all OVER the place....and when I stop...the trailer hits the back of my bike, and has scraped off the paint for about 6-7 inches from sliding.The tire spokes on mine are PLASTIC. I thought Id at least have aluminum or alloy.Id like the option of later adding a handlebar and tire in the front so it can convert into a jogging double stroller. see less

I got this bike and was very satisfied with it's quality. There was a little trouble putting some parts together, but over all was pretty easy to assemble. In the other reviews, they said that they had problems with parts, but i think it's because they got the floor model. I had my bike shipped to my house and had no trouble with the parts. The bike came faster than the estimated shipping time stated on the target website so that was also great. This is a Great bike. I look forward to many years with this bike see less

The bike held up very well the first year with a minor wipeout avoiding a truck collision on a rainy day after traveling 10 miles out on busy street. It ran well from spring to fall. This spring I had new better tires replace the stock ones. Fitted saddle bags and a carry all bag on the back. new lights front and back and got a tune up from the local bike shop. Rode it 5 miles with zero problems. Seven speeds and everywhere to go. The seat is holding up nicely. The kick stand had to tighten with better bolts and washers but is very tight now. Adding a water bottle holder and water bottle helps. Nice bike to ride in the city and country. see less

The helment fit's great , and I really like the vents on the top. Only complaint is that it doesn't come with instructions on how to turn on the light on the back. I had to go online to figure it out, but thought I'd save anyone else the trouble. To turn the light on press the center of the red plastic. You have to press kind of hard but it will turn it on. There are two different light phases. Press once for flashing light, press a second time for a solid light, press a third time to turn it off. see less

I have had a couple other helmets and I can say that this one is by far the best! I can customize the fit exactly to my head. That is hard to do with helmets when you have a smaller head. Plus, I do not feel like I have this huge helmet on my head, since it is streamlined! Get this helmet! see less

Bought this bike at Target and they did awesome job of assembly. No dings or sratches. This is a Candy Red paint and looks great. I love the way this bike rides. Similar to my bike in the 50's. I took it to a bike shop to have a front brake added and re pack the hubs with grease just for extra protection. Add a mirror, light and speedometer and you are all set. I like this bike more with each passing day and you will be very happy with such a nice bike at such a great price. see less

Inexpensive simple bike bought for flat terrain biking. Single gear so a little bit more effort needed to go up inclines. Simple foot brake. Ordered blue but got red bike instead. Brilliant metallic red, not a single scratch or blemish. Neighbors have commented how retro nice it looks. Now to assembly, the best news is that this bike is so simple that assembly is a few short steps. First, we took the bike out of the box and checked all items were there. Second, tools. We only needed scissors, a 6mm Allen key, an adjustable wrench, and a Phillips head screwdriver. Third, we lightly installed handlebars and seat, turned the bike upside down to install the front wheel, fenders and foot pedals. Last, we turned bike right side up, checked for alignment of front wheel and handlebars, tightened all the bolts and screws and checked tires were at full pressure. see less

I noticed on most reviews of this bike, people were very unhappy. They said that it was broken when they bought it. Well, i bought this and it was perfect for me. I never saw any problem. I think that in later days they may have fixed earlier problems. Because most of those reviews were in 2008. I got mine around early june 2010, I say they must have had manufacturing problems or store problems with this bike early on and fixed them. I love this bike and i'd recommend it to anyone! see less
