The whistle is just right as well. I bought the teal color and it is very pretty in my kitchen. I paid more for this in the store. Worth the money even though I paid more. PROS Trigger spout handle. Handle comfortable to touch after kettle boils. Pretty turquoise color is more greenish than photo shows. Nice globe kettle takes less room on burner than other very wide flat-bottom kettles. Globe design doesn't need a high flame to heat kettle. Pleasant whistle that's not shrill. Pour spout is not huge so there's more controlled pouring - wait a couple minutes to cool to avoid splashing when pouring. Enameled body is smooth on the outside bottom as well as smooth interior bottom for easy no seams cleaning. CONS Trigger spout doesn't stay open on its own. Enameled body seems thick and sturdy but stainless lid is very thin IMO-this is my second KitchenAid tea kettle and the lids are very tight to open but that's a good thing to keep the steam from escaping during boil. Take off the plastic MAX FILL sticker off pot before first use. Seems like this is being discontinued as this used to come in more color choices. see less

I have had my Mr. Coffee coffee maker for 8 months now and it is still working perfectly. It is very easy to use, and the numbers on sides of the water reservoir are perfect for if you are only making a few cups. My favorite part though? How easy the clock is to program! For some reason, all of my kitchen electronics in the past have had clocks that are almost impossible to reset. Thanks, Mr. Coffee, for not making daylight savings the most painful time of the year for my kitchen. see less

I like the design of this model. We've had this model for a few weeks and there is not sign of it crappin' out any time soon. I like the water filter it comes with as my last maker didn't have one and it does make a difference. The design looks nice and modern. The ad says it is a hand wash model but this model does have a self-clean feature. The only thing I don't like about it is that I cannot find the model listed on the Mr. Coffee website. We purchased this coffee maker a couple of weeks ago, so I cannot speak to longevity, but so far, we love it. The design is modern, and it is easy to use. It beeps when coffee is fully brewed--although it has an interrupt feature if you want to grab a cup during the brewing process--and when it turns off after 2 hours. The auto shut-off has been reliable. Carafe sits in a groove in the warming plate so that it is properly aligned when brewing the coffee, and coffee doesn't spill when pouring a cup--the annoying problem we had with another brand! Has a water filter and both moderate and strong brew options, although we haven't tried the strong brew yet. Highly recommended model for this price range. see less

I thought this would be a good middle-of-the-road coffee pot for our every day use. I wish I had read the other reviews, because just like a lot of others, ours stopped working after about 4 months. My only complaint before it broke was that it was slow and the coffee never seemed to get super hot. It was decent, but yesterday in the middle of brewing it made a weird noise and literally stopped working. I will not be buying Mr. Coffee again, and just purchased the Cuisinart coffee maker that gets awesome reviews. see less

I have one of these that I bought from Target 5 - 6 yrs ago. It's still running and I love it. The auto shutoff feature are great for the elderly and forgetful - the latter being me. The tall design maximizes the amount of water you can keep in the pot. The opaque window allows you to gauge how much water is in the kettle. The kettle is stainless steel construction and is truly wonderful. There are no exposed vertical heating element on the inside so that you can easily clean it. I use to have this unit at work and used it 5 days a week. My co-workers loved it too. I liked it so much that i bought another one for my house. My only wish is that it heats up quicker and stays hot longer. see less

I purchased this machine over 2 years ago with a b-day gift card from my sister. It was on sale for [$] & I thought I would only use it until I could save up for an upscale machine. This espresso maker has far exceeded my expectations, I would not buy a costly & bulky machine when this little guy does the job & takes up very little space. We use it everyday, twice a day, my teenage son uses it too. That being said, I always use espresso grounds, I always use cold filtered water, I always make sure the lid is tightly sealed before starting it, I ALWAYS turn on the steam after the espresso is brewed just to let out the trapped vapor, & I clean it twice a month. The glass jar fell & broke, but we just use a large coffee mug instead. My sister recently visited us & just loves the machine, she was surprised I purchased it with the gift card she sent, I even had money left over. I am planning on buying her one, she has a small kitchen & will save big bucks by making her own at home. see less

I've had just about every brand out there and I would usually go right to the microwave right after brewing to warm up my coffee. Now I have to wait for it to cool to drink it! French presses are defini ... see more

French presses are definitely the the most flavorful way to brew coffee. And you really should only use a coarse grind for it, significantly coarser than the pre-ground stuff you find in stores. If you try to use medium or finely ground coffee in a French press, it will clog the filter, which causes you to press down harder, which sometimes ends up in a broken glass or filter. Not to mention the coffee just won't taste good it it's not a coarse grind; it will taste over-extracted and possibly bitter. Also, standard definition of a "cup of coffee" is between 5 and 6 ounces. I know no one really drinks cups that small, but that is the standard measurement used for french presses and drip brewers alike. I find the the 8-cup gives me 2 or 3 "real" cups of coffee (normal American mugs). I really don't mean to sound like a know it all. I just think this is a great product that should probably come with more directions:) I put mine in the dishwasher regularly, and have so far not broken the glass, though I completely expect to some day. If you are really concerned about it breaking, I suggest looking into a metal one, probably not plastic. I'm not sure if Target sells one, but I know you can get one at many coffee shops for around [..]. see less

I read all the reviews before purchasing and figured I'd take a chance anyway. I'm glad I did, although realizing the limitation from being a mile high from the reviews did help. I also own the Presto Heat 'n' Steep Electric Tea Kettle - Black, and I like this one much better. Because the reviews reminded me that water boils at a lower temperature at altitude, I set the shut-off for 200 degrees when I'm boiling water for instant soup or my Vietnamese drip coffee maker. Works like a charm. If I'm making green, oolong or white tea, I set it at the appropriate temperature. It shuts off, and if I don't get there immediately, it shows me the temperature of the water as it's cooling so I can start it back up if necessary. It isn't difficult to use. Realizing that the water was never going to get to 212 degrees was the trick. see less

This is a great coffeemaker. Has the pause-and-serve function which is so important--never spills a drop while I'm pouring. The carafe doesn't spill all over the place either like some do. It has all the bells and whistles you'll need, such as timed brew, regular/strong coffee, and a beautiful clock on the front. It beeps when it's finished brewing, stays hot for two hours then beeps to tell you it's automatically turning off for safety. I docked a star from "easy to use" because it can be difficult to open it up to pour the water in. I can't recommend it to customers with arthritis. But like I said, I have no trouble using it. Hope that helps! We've been using it over a year with no problems. It even retains the clock time long enough to be unplugged, moved, and replugged and still know what time it is. see less

I just got this iced tea maker two weeks ago, and as far as I'm concerned it has already paid back what I spent on it! We love to have iced tea around as an alternative to water, and this maker fits the bill. It is so easy to use! It has a filter basket so you don't need to buy filters -we use loose tea so we love this feature. You just put water in it, add ice to the pitcher, put the tea in and press a button. It brews super fast and the large pitcher lasts us a few days. I don't drink soda, so having something else on hand other than water is a nice option. I'll be using this year round! I had read on another site that someone was disappointed in the color because they felt it wasn't red like the photo, but more burgundy. I want to say that while this is a deeper red, it is definitely NOT burgundy! I think it's a beautiful color and will go well with standard red...my red [brand] mixer cover was right next to it...as well as deeper red shades. I received this kettle in Robin's Egg Blue to match my pots and pans, and my husband and I are loving it. It looks great sitting on the stove. It makes the kitchen feel very homey. We both love tea, and have a rather large collection, as well as teapots that cannot be used on the stove. I bought a 3 dollar timer before it arrived. Mine was a on line purchase. I bought it for the color. Man, does it make a great cup of coffee. Never worry about turning it off. My timer has my coffee ready when I get up and turns it off. I found it easy to set up the night before. I can use it in between if company wants a cup and then set it up for next day use. I think they are all hard to add water to. Use a cup with a spout. I have a small water bottle marked on the side for the fill line for my 2 mugs and fill that from the sink. Makes it easy and the bottle sits on the cabinet right behind the machine out of sight. You have to pull it out from the back of the counter to set up, lid opens nice and high and once ready set it back in place. How hard can it be. Out the door and not to worry if I turned it off. My timer does that for me. It goes on at 6 AM and off at 8AM. Doesn't get any better than that. see less

It is the perfect size for me--I can get about two travel mugs out of each brewing. And it complies with my dorm's regulations for coffee makers--all the heating elements are internal. It's perfect for me being alone no coffee waste, if I want more it only takes seconds to prepare coffee and approx. 2 mins. to enjoy it! Not only is this kettle nice to look at, it heats up quickly, holds more water than previous kettles I have owned and is very quiet. I gave it 4 stars on "easy to use" because it is a little heavy. It might not be good for kids/seniors due to the heft. It's taller than previous kettles I have had such as Melita, Sunbeam, but has about the same footprint on the counter. I highly recommend it!! Wonderful Grinder!!I purchased this grinder approximately 2 years ago, and I've used it at least once per day during that time. I've had no problems or issues. It is solidly constructed, including the removable, rugged stainless steel grinder bowl; and the black / stainless steel finish is attractive. In addition, the grinder bowl and the plastic cap are removable AND dishwasher safe, making for easy cleaning. Itprovides multiple different settings for different coarseness and the amount of beans you are grinding, and since the grinding time is pre-set you can just push the button and move on to doing something else while the coffee grinds. It's very simple to use, and I think that the simple, mechanical (non-digital) controls for number of cups and fineness of grind will stand up well over time (not much chance for wearing out!) I've had none of the "cap-loosening problem" or "stopped working" that others reported. This is a great, reliable grinder, and I give it a perfect 5/5. see less

I'd like to address a couple of issues raised regarding this tea kettle. First is the handle getting too hot. Try reducing the heat 'slightly'. Water will still boil, and the handle won't get quite as hot. However, this "is" a stove top implement - so, if necessary, use a pot holder to avoid burning yourself. Second is the rust issue. Instructions with this tea kettle say to use "fresh water" each time (in other words, don't leave water in the kettle - and it won't rust). If you are making tea for one or two, use less water. If you are making tea for your card club, then heat a full pot of water. And then empty it after each use.I have had this tea kettle for almost four years - and I've been thoroughly satisfied with it. It is solidly built, heats water rapidly, and has never given me a problem.Oh, and just like any pot or pan, wash it inside and out on a regular basis, and it will give you years and years of service. :-) see less

I put this on our registery, because of the color. It matches our kitchen. We drink a lot of tea and hot cocoa, so I've used it a lot. It's a pain getting the lid off sometimes to put water in it. The spout cover isn't the easiest to open either like I'm used to. Instead of flipping it open with your thumb to pour the hot water out, you have to grab it with a couple fingers to pull it back. Not a big deal, but I'm used to my old one still. When the kettle is done, water drips out of the spout all over my stovetop. see less

I purchased this to replace our Cuisinart drip coffee maker after my husband complained he liked hotter coffee. I carefully compared this one against the Faberware one which was twice the price. I couldn't believe that the West Bend was so much better. First, the West Bend has a water window so you can clearly see how much water you have added by cups and also the holder for the coffee is clearly marked as to how much to add for the number of desired cups. I held the Faberware and it seemed to be much thinner metal with no advantages over the West Bend at all. The West Bend works well, quick to perk, good tasting coffee, great price at Target. see less

It IS Pink, I think it's pretty! I got my sister the matching Red pot and toaster for Christmas we used hers first and she is so in love, it does not turn itself off but if you communicate they will tell you that was a misprint. It doesn't have a clock but I wouldn't have used it anyways. It comes with a permanent coffee filter and personally I do think it's worth the money to have a fun, flashy, appliance instead of the boring options of black or white. I've been hunting for a pink coffee pot that was just right for me and I've found that. it makes yummy coffee! Thank you Bella! for anyone wondering about the shade of pink, it looked more red to me at first. I thought I was given the red one. was gonna send it back but my sister and I compared! you can definitely tell it's pink when you put it next to the red one it is a deep shade of pink but so pretty! see less

Nice looking machine but it really isn't the PINK you think you are going to get. It looks more of a red, so that is a little disappointing. I thought I had been sent the wrong color but after looking at the other reviews, I realized that I hadn't. I still haven't used it. I hope it doesn't let me down because I'm reading what the other consumers are saying about it. It's pretty and has a very modern look otherwise. I know I will get lots of compliments on it, I just hope people see that it is supposed to be PINK and not RED!!! see less

Received this coffee pot 4 days ago and so far it's working well. It has an adjustable flavor level which is interesting and really changes the flavor from weaker to stronger or vice versa. It has a self cleaning mode and programmable timer. The setting process should be less complicated. Too many steps to get to programming set up, but it works. Hard to see if the timer is set or not. My last coffee pot had an obvious light that let you know it was set. I wish the light on the clock stayed lit like my previous coffee pot. After 10 seconds of lack of use, it goes dark. Have to hit the "mode" button for it to light again to check the information area. Love the red color. Thinking about getting the toaster. This programmable model doesn't seem to come in other colors on this site. see less

I have had this coffee pot for about 3 months now, and I love it. I hesitated to purchase at first, since it was almost half the price of any other thermal, but I'm so glad I took the chance. It's easy to use, coffee tastes great, and the thermal pot is fantastic. Coffee is still warm when I return from work, and that's about 10 hours after it's brewed. I'm no coffee expert, but its been reliable and makes good, consistent coffee. However, beware of the buttons. They are extra cheap and in the past month, I've had trouble programming this coffee maker, setting the clock and even just turning it on. All because the buttons have just stopped working properly. This modern looking coffee pot makes a great addition to anyone's kitchen comes in a variety of colors. I am using the white dot coffee maker that was so simple to set up and use. I had nice hot coffee in 11 minutes from start to finish for 12 cups. The reusable filter is also a nice feature no running out of filters again. Cleaning is very easy and the price is reasonable. Since it comes with just one button for on and off it is very simple to use. I also love the pause and serve feature that is a must when you want to jump start your day.
