I understand that this disk needs to be reformatted in order to work with a Mac. However the Disk Utility on my new 15" MacBook Pro doesn't even see this disk. The computer hangs for many seconds when I connect the disk. There seems to be some fundamental incompatibility. The disk works just find on my Lenovo laptop running Windows XP. I wish I knew what the problem was with my Mac. see less

I bought this because the Name and Price and warranty. I am contacting Toshiba to let them know my dissatisfaction. Works on my HP 3.0 USB LT Wont work on my HP 2.0 USB LT. I cannot confirm on other USB 2.0 but it seems I need a special cable to use it.ETITHER PUT IT IN THE BOX OR LABLE IT AS SUCH If all you are gonna use it for is USB 3 you will love this unit. Priced right with 3 yr warranty beats the compitition hands down. If you ever think you may take it to a friend be warned. IF he has an old pc/lt you may not be able to share data. see less

This is the best machine I've ever used, my only complaint is that it came with two HDD rather than one HDD and one SSD...I would rather have an SSD than two HDD, even though both HDDs are 2Tb. Other than that I have zero complaints. It runs everything I've thrown at it and has no problems multitasking. see less

Read reviews, do not understand the poor reviews.I own 2 of these. One for system backup on win 7, the other for files on both 2.0 and 3.0 systems. I have win7 pro 64, Quad Xeon system and XP system. Plugged it in, works. I do not install the software on the drive. See no need for it. see less

Great drive, I love the fact it's got a shock sensor and ramp loading technology. Many other big players such as WD and Seagate don't offer this on their budget drives. I love the simplicity and small size of the Canvio. It works seamlessly with OSX Snow Leopard formatted for HFS+. Many people are blaming Windows for not detecting it, I say if you buy a cheap computer with a rubbish OS don't blame the HDD, blame the operating system for not including drivers and support for a basic HDD. With the shock sensor, ramp loading system and 3 year warranty I think it's a pretty safe buy if you're concerned about reliability. As with any hard disk drive you've gotta be careful and not move it while in use otherwise it'll be toast! But so far so good. see less

I received this as a gift last year for Christmas. Since then I have had data backed up on it and used it continuously (maybe several times a month). I do not leave it plugged in, nor do I move it much. I dropped it once but it has never skipped a beat, and has easily connected to many different computers. Entirely satisfied with it and hope for many more years of use with it! see less

I was rather dismayed about the negative comments about this HD. I have the 1.0TB Canvio Basics 3.0 and using it on my 2.0 Laptop. It worked first time - seen by my computer and away it goes - all 931Gb of it. I suppose time will tell - I think a lot of problems with HD's are their lack of ruggedness - if you care about something enough you will treat it with care. This HD promises Internal Shock Sensors and RAMP technology. I don't plan on dropping it on the floor to test it - just treat it according to the importance of the files which are placed upon it. I already have a Toshiba 750Gb HD bought about a year ago - USB 2.0 compatible - also works fine - no problems at all. I love Toshiba! see less

This is my second hard drive by Toshiba. The first one I bought 2 months ago and it has proven to be a great hard drive. I especially like the ramp loading technology because it reduces the chance of head and platter damage. In my opinion, Toshiba hard drives soars above the rest -- great job Toshiba! see less

I tried several models/brands and found this one to be the best performer. They all have one thing in common and that is they won't turn the screen off or go into sleep mode running Windows 8. I am a long time computer tech and haven't figured this problem out yet. Otherwise, I love the computer. see less

I needed speed and a large display for my "main" computer; the LX835 provides it all. I can split screen without a second display and all applications and synchronizations with other computers, and external devices devices really fly. see less

I work quite heavily with Adobe CS6 programs and the power of the computer and NVidia video card are a necessity. I run an extra 23 inch monitor to help spread out my work flow with no problems - more of a desktop than a laptop so the low life of the battery isn't really an issue unless the power goes out see less
