But every single time I've used it, I've tried 3 times, it has over flowed water everywhere when I try to remove the colander from the base. I think that it is possibly the shape of the base and that the space between it and the colander is not enough to allow the water to properly drain. It is totally un-usable... The handle is very comfortable and each piece is light weight. I had a hard time deciding between the 10 piece and the 14 piece but I am so glad I went with the 14 piece. A glass lid is not necessary for me, but it does the job in case you forget what is in there simmering. I put it in the dishwasher too, though I am not sure if that was recommended. It also has a nice look and silicone handle. I've had this grill pan for at least 5 years and absolutely love it. It does a great job on meats, vegetables, and I've even "grilled" pizza and quesadillas. Now that i've moved to the midwest where outdoor grilling is feasible only half the year, I fully plan to bond even closer to my grill pan this winter. Here is my only issue, this is not a complaint or issue with the grill.After buying this round grill i bought the 8X11 grill pan press also by calphalon and tend to use it instead for the sole purpose that im only one person and dont need a 12" round grill. I am a BBQ'er, I have a gas grille and a charcoal grille in my back yard. This pan is great on those days that it's too hot or cold to go outside. It grille's great chicken, salmon, and vegies. This is a great cookset. We received it as a wedding gift about two years ago. We have used each piece several times over. They heat evenly and are just as good as the other more expensive Calphalon cookware pieces we own. There are two things people need to know before buying these: 1.) They are not dishwasher safe. You need to hand wash and use Bar Keeper's Friend every so often. 2.) Do not use metal or other utensils that can scratch. If you do these two things they will last you a long time and you will be very happy with them. see less

Spreads heat evenly to food - even with electric burners. Care must be taken to both interior and exterior finishes as they will scratch and wear off with abrasive tools/ sponges. Handles are cast iron with a coating and have a tendency to retain heat most closest to where it connects with pan - ends of handles are cool to touch. Overall I like the set but you have to be mindful when storing/ handling and washing to avoid scratching the exterior finish if you want to keep them in like-new condition. see less

Unfortunately, the handle is so heavy the pan will easily tip over with a slight pressure applied to the handle. The Calhpalon Kitchen Essentials line at Target provides good quality cooking pans, pots, etc. These pans are lightweight and I can tell they won't last 10 years, but they are reasonably priced and do a good job for basic cooking. The handles are comfortable, the non-stick surface works, and they are easy to clean. Don't put these in the dishwasher, handwashing them is a breeze. Be sure to use plastic or wood utensils with these pans to prevent scratching. see less

I have had mine for two years now and it is great! I use it everyday for fajitas, eggs, pancakes, mexican quisados, and carne asada. It does not flake, it does not warp and it is easy to clean let cool down completely, add a little water for five minutes and then clean lightly with a soft sponge and soap. I needed a griddle really bad and I tried some other ones that were poor quality. Then there are the ones that need high maintenance, lubricate, oil down once a month blah blah blah. I have owned the Calphalon 1218 11x18 double griddle for about 4 years and use it about once a week for pancakes. This griddle appears to be a newer model. Mine does not have rubber handles. I have always used it on my flattop range and love it. It fits nicely over two burners and heats evenly. I do spray lightly with cooking spray and set my burners at a medium heat -- 4-5 on a 9 scale. It has not warped. I cool it completely before wiping it with dish detergent and water. It never needs to be scrubbed and has no buildup of gunk. I am considering buying one for each of my children but your "glass cooktop" reviews are scaring me. Perhaps the newer model is not as well made as my model? see less

I was surprised at how good this pan was constructed and it's non stick finish. Having cooked in several restaurants. I have seen non stick finishes that do not meet expectations. I was unfamiliar with the sand finish that this pan has. After using it 4 times I am a fan for life. I have used it in the oven and on the stove top. I did not use under a broiler due to a high heat warning about the finish 450F max. handle is securely riveted to the pan. This is going to be used very often. see less

I got this for free when I bought a 10 piece set of Kitchen Essentials from Calphalon cookware over a year ago. I use this pan almost every single day. Nothing sticks. The finish has darkened a little on the inside and the outside but it performs beautifully. It cleans with just a wipe from the sponge. Sometimes I have to scrub the rivets a little. The only drawback is that you cannot use it on high heat and so cannot stir fry things in it, but I will definitely come back for a new one if it ever wears out. see less

I purchased this pan after moving into a furnished apartment that was not equipped for me to cook for a family of six. I already had a large skillet in storage and debated buying a more expensive skillet vs. a cheaper one until I got it back in a few months. I am so glad I decided to buy this pan! I've used this pan almost every night since I bought it. I really like the two small side handles instead of a really long one. It fits in my sink and makes washing easier. The small handles also make it easier to serve when I put it on the table - no one has to avoid a long handle. I try really hard to use only nylon utensils in the pan, but the 2 - 3 times I used a metal utensil, very gently, it held up and didn't scratch. I've used it in the oven too, and it works great. This pan cooks evenly over the entire surface of the skillet. When I get my original skillet back from storage, I will still use this one for most of my cooking needs. see less
