It worked for about 20 minutes, then the screen contrast started jumping around and then the whole phone died. For the 20 minutes that I had with the phone, it seemed like a respectable unit.
The Caller ID display shows 1 and area code and then 7 digits, like 1313 2223333. This is much improved over an AT&T CL2909 that I tried that displayed like 131 322 23333 which makes familiar phone numbers fairly unrecognizable.
The sound seems pretty decent, the buttons like Speaker and Mute are very well placed, and the sound boost could be pretty useful for the hearing challenged.
I must say after reading a couple of the reviews at the beginning of the year, I was a little nervous to purchase this phone. However, I too was captivated by appearance and thought "oh well" if it stops working--I wanted it for the way it looked. Fortunately I have been blessed with a GREAT phone! It looks great...obviously, and it works fantastic--even better!
I received this phone for Christmas and have had no problems. It's fun to look at and handy to have (you always know where to find it and it will work through a power outage). [An upscale retailer] stocks a similiar-looking phone which sells for [...] more...this one is a great deal!
