The new Barbie Dream house is so much fun for all aged young girls. I have two girls, aged 7 and 3 and both are loving it. The house is so bright and fun and full of lots of little details and surprises. They love all the parts that light up and how the cabinets open and close. I like the "locking" system so all the cups, plates and toys stay in their place when they set the table for dinner or have the Barbie's cooking in the kitchen. They both love the cute little doggy that came with it as well. The house was difficult to assemble, but now I know there is a video to help, which is great! I would definitely recommend this house for any little Barbie lovers in your life! [...].
[...] I am a lifelong Barbie fan who loves this toy. I truly have nothing negative to say. My daughter is 6 and not always gentle, but the Dreamhouse can withstand her playing. She loves creating scenes and scenarios and the Dreamhouse has so many rooms and interactive pieces that she is always delighted. The doorbell rings, the toilet flushes, the light in the oven works - there are a lot of details in this dreamhouse.
When you first open the Dreamhouse, you may feel a bit overwhelmed...there are a lot of pieces, but it is pretty easy to sort the pieces - the necessary vs. the decorative - and if you follow the steps on the instruction sheet, the house goes together easily. The elevator took longer to set up than I planned. Once you are finished, add the stickers, place the accessories (they even made it so the accessories stay in place) and you are ready to play. It took us about 2 hours to complete it all.
My 5-year-old daughter loves this item. From the moment we completed it, she has been playing with it regularly and it has provided hours of entertainment. It definitely lends itself to creative play. I love the fact that it has so many rooms that it allows for lots of different scenarios and lots of different barbies.
She was particularly happy that the house came with so many accessories. It really is fully furnished. She loved setting up the individual rooms and each one leads to lots of imaginative play. She thinks it is a fabulous house!
Some of the rooms were favorites. For example, the room with Barbie's closet was so fascinating to my daughter that she didn't even want to put in on the house and enjoyed playing with it separately. She also played a lot with the kitchen.
So all that being said, there were also a few things my daughter wished were included. Since the closet was such a hit, she specifically mentioned (more than once) that she wished the house came with some additional clothes and accessories for Barbie (there was one pair of shoes included, but she wanted more). Also, since the house came with a dog, she thought that there should be a doggie door somewhere on the house. A new Barbie would also be appreciated, according to her.
From a parent perspective, the greatest improvement would involve revising the terrible assembly directions. The text and photos are almost useless. It's nice that some efforts have been made to build parts that only fit in one place (the supports), but the rest is a mess. It probably took about an hour to put together the main house, but that's not counting the vast amounts of time and frustration that went into properly installing the elevator. In short, the elevator is a total disaster. The elevator should either come already installed or have a much easier mechanism.
Stacie is adorable and so is her outfit. I bought this as an adult collector so I can't attest to how long it will last with a young child, but it's well made. The cars hold Barbie, Ken, and smaller dolls one at a time. A seatbelt holds them in place which is good because it spins FAST while rotating. Your little girl will love it. Requires basic assembly and have tweezers ready to attach the tiny stickers. I personally feel it's expensive at regular price but no matter when you choose to buy this, it's a great toy and should make your girl happy. I was pleasantly surprised at the overall quality of this item.
