I work as an early childhood educator and always purchase Brown Bear books as gifts for parents in our program to read to their children. This book has a wonderful cadence and rythmn that can be tapped on the board book when read to the child. This is a great way to keep the childs attention while reading the book. It is also exciting when you see the child pick up the book and start tapping and "reading" (as best they can) the book. It also teachers children primary colors and is easily memorized for retelling. I recommend it to everyone with young children - and for gifts. see less

I was at a friend's house and I saw it on her coffee table, picked it up, read five pages and immediately had to go get my own copy (as she wasn't done reading it yet). I FLEW through this book and would recommend it to anyone (and in fact I already have). I originally got this book as a gift and was sceptical as to whether it would be good or not. Those reservations vanished as soon as I finished the first chapter. The book has everything a reader could ask for. Humor, suspence, action, romance, mind blowing plot twists, and loveable characters. Since I got the book I've read it at least six times. It's one of those books that you can read over and over and not get sick of it. I would highly recomend this book to anyone. see less

When you read the back you would think this book was very bloody and gory, but it wasn't. this book was even as good as the twilight series. This is definitely one of my favorite books. In the beginning, the main character, Victoria, is very hard to like. She seems to have no passion and no value for her life. In the end of the first chapter though, it's obvious how fascinated she is by the language of flowers - that is, what each flower means. She studies the definition of each flower and ends up getting a job at a flower shop. She meets a strange boy and the communicate using only flowers. Overall, this book was really quite great. The chapters switched off between the present and a moment of Victoria's childhood in the past. A definite must read!! see less

It was a "Breath of Fresh Air" after The Fiery Cross, which lost me for a while due to its seemingly unnecessary detail of boring plots which did nothing to enhance the story line. How far will I go for a friend? This is a question I have been recently asking myself since reading The Kite Runner. The majority of the story takes place in late 70s Afghanistan where Amir, a son of a wealthy man and Hassan a servants son become very good friends. Amir and Hassan become so close that not even a soviet invasion or years of Islamic radicalism could destroy their bond. The story is filled with surprises with a heart touching, unforgettable conclusion. Personally I would recommend The Kite Runner to 10th graders and above. There are a few scenes in the novel that get a little graphic and some scenes that are violent. The Kite Runner tells a lot more than just a story about tow Afghani boys, it shares a cultural experience that I will remember for the rest of my life. The novel sheds lessons of faith and commitment to friends and family and is now one of my favorite reads. see less

This Book was a little harder for me than the others in this series. Mrs. Lessman does not shy away form hard topics. She paints real pictures of life, with all its imperfections. Emma is a character you meet 1st in the Daughters Of Boston series and their is a hint of something between her and Sean O'Connor. She has been through a lot in her short life and she feels unworthy to find love again. Can Sean show her how or will she keep punishing herself for the mistakes of the past. Don't miss this one! Tough story lines but very touching in the end! see less

Another epic romance from Julie Lessman!! Once again she has proven just how brilliant a writer she is! A Heart Revealed was everything I had hoped it would be, and more. From Sean's determination never to get married because of a tragedy during the war, to Emma's resolve to stay away from men because of a vow she took before God to a man who abused her mercilessly, this book takes you on a journey of love, loss, but most importantly, faith. Julie Lessman took two of my most favorite chracters from her O'Connor series and brought them together. I absolutely loved this book, mostly because of my love for Emma and Sean. This is a series that's about family, and you become a part of that family from the moment you open A Passion Most Pure to the minute you close A Heart Revealed. Keep writing Julie!! I don't even know where to begin. There is so much to say about this novel. Let me start off by saying if you've never read a Julie Lessman novel, stop what you are doing right now, and grab a copy. You won't be sorry. The first novel I read by her was last September, entitled A Hope Undaunted, book 1 in this Winds Of Change series. I couldn't believe how much I fell in love with her work! I highly suggest that you grab a copy of this novel NOW. It's 5 Books worthy, two thumbs up, hats off, a home run, a winner, a best seller......what ever you want to call it's that. Julie Lessman really has a way to make ME feel a part of the heart of the story. She speaks to me through the words of her characters, and really brings me closer to God each time. She is by far my absolute FAVORITE Christian novelist and I will NEVER part with her books. They are forever on myself for me to read and reread, and reflect on each time. see less

For me, reading this book was a very enlightening experience as I attended elementary school with a few black children in the 1960s! This book taught me much. I learned about the atmosphere and white ignorance of the South during the Civil Rights Movement. The eloquent writing allowed me to comprehend how it felt to be a black maid during this time frame. I was reminded of many truthsto not judge people by the color of their skin, and to do the right thing, no matter what the consequences are. I really loved this enthralling, deeply-moving book and I highly recommend it! see less

Ted DeKker does it again. This book keeps you flipping the pages from start to finish. The only fault I could find is that the book ends. This is a story I could keep reading, if fact as soon as I was done I started reading it again. I have given copies to friends and they are hooked also. Ted Dekker has done it again! He has taken two characters from very different walks of life and brought them together in a tale that is fast-paced and exciting. Somehow he is able to delve into the deepest, darkest depths of the human psyche. So much, in fact, that everything Danny and Renee struggle with hits home. He draws the reader in so intensely that you feel as though you are them. From a vigilante priest to a washed up drug addict with no memory of her past and gilded memories of the man who 'saved' her, it will tear at your heartstrings. These are things that you and I have dealt with. Perhaps you have a sister or a brother who has struggled in a similar way. It was beautiful and sad, thrilling and disturbing, at times tough to stomach...yet so worth it. I couldn't put this book down. I laughed. I cried. I got angry. It gave me hope. It kept me on the edge of my seat. This is a story I will be thinking about for days to come. Any book that can cause me to feel this way gets two thumbs up! Definitely his best book yet! see less

The Priests Graveyard has touched me in a way few books have. It has reminded me why I want to be a writer. I dont feel this way just because of the storys vivid characters, intense plot, and surprising twists that only Dekker can create. And its also not just because I found myself laughing out loud at spots and choking back tears at others. And its not just the dark edge to the story that kept me on the edge of my seat. What got me most about this book was the story itself. I really feel like I went on a journey with these characters, and I lived the story myself. This book changed my perspective of the world; I cant look at myself or others in the same way I used to. Its hard to believe I can learn so much truth from a fictional story, but this book has opened my eyes. I cant explain how, but this book got under my skin and stayed there. I would highly recommend it to anyone! see less

I was so obsessed with Fifty Shades of Grey that I did a lot of research as to what books were similar and this one popped up. The only thing that made it similar is How Travis Maddox is protective and in love with a girl who has had a troubled past. It was a different sort of love..I couldn't put the book down..I read it in about 6 hours broken up in 2 days. Summary of the book in my words below. It is about a girl named Abby who goes to college with her Best Friend named America and always has to tag along with her boyfriend Shepley and his best friend Travis Maddox. The 4 did a lot together and Travis was always protective of Abby..They had a really strong friendship until Abby lost a bet against Travis and she had to live with him for a month. The 2 ended up falling in love and have to figure out how to handle things and treat situations. It is a roller coaster ride with the 2 of them. I didn't want it to end.. I love Christian Grey and Now I love Travis Maddox! see less

Throught the 36 hours it took me to read the book off and on while at work mostly, when I would put the book down I would feel real emotions and not understand why I was so sad, angry, or felt lost. We have listened to the entire series multiple times on road trips. I love the entire Harry Potter series-the Sorcerer's Stone gets you hooked for the entire series. Easy to read and enjoyable. I bought the entire series in large print so I can re-read over again without struggling to read the print.. Can't recommend enough how much easier to read with bigger words! Harry Potter is an enchanting book full of excitement and fun for adults and older children (my son started reading at age 9). My son prefers the large print too! We read the series together. I loved the characters in this book. They were real and you cared about them. Through the writing you were able to experience the emotions each character felt. This book quickly drew you in and left you breathless until the last page. If you are looking for a book to get lost in, a book that is real, a book that makes you think, a book that makes you care then pick up this book. You won't regret it :) see less

Victoria Christopher Murray man handled her pen when she wrote this story. It is one of those books that men and women would discuss in the break room at work months later.Evie and Adam have always taken care of their family. Not just their children but their mothers as well. They have always been able to provide for them until they suddenly become a one family income. Their world as they know it comes crashing down on them in a huge way.Victoria Christopher Murray shows the readers what a person would do when their back is up against a wall. The message she brings is far more than just honoring your marriage vows. She delivers a power message displaying faith, love, sacrifice, obedience and trust(not only each other but God). God tested their faith and trust in Him. Did they succeed or did they fail? You have to read the book to find out. I give this book, five thumbs up and a fist bump!!! see less

Ted Dekker has done it again! He has taken two characters from very different walks of life and brought them together in a tale that is fast-paced and exciting. Somehow he is able to delve into the deepest, darkest depths of the human psyche. So much, in fact, that everything Danny and Renee struggle with hits home. He draws the reader in so intensely that you feel as though you are them. From a vigilante priest to a washed up drug addict with no memory of her past and gilded memories of the man who 'saved' her, it will tear at your heartstrings. These are things that you and I have dealt with. Perhaps you have a sister or a brother who has struggled in a similar way. It was beautiful and sad, thrilling and disturbing, at times tough to stomach...yet so worth it. I couldn't put this book down. I laughed. I cried. I got angry. It gave me hope. It kept me on the edge of my seat. This is a story I will be thinking about for days to come. Any book that can cause me to feel this way gets two thumbs up! Definitely his best book yet! see less

Charity is the sister you love to hate in the 1st book in the Daughters Of Boston series. At least for me anyway. Charity has done something terrible to Mitch Dennehy but is sorry now. Somehow her revenge on her sister has back fired and she is has fallen for Mitch. Only Mitch wants nothing to do with Charity now or any woman like her. He has been burned before and wont open himself up to pain again. Can Charity change his mind and convince him that she has changed? This is a wonderful book with true to life situations! Mrs. Lessman does not sugar coat the bad things in life and paints a wonderful story of God's redeeming love. A MUST READ!!!! see less

I absolutely LOVED Charity and Mitch's story! Julie Lessman has done it again! This book can only be described as an epic romance. I loved out this story proves that sometimes things need to get worse before they can get better. That sometimes we must suffer before our hearts and eyes can be opened to God and His love and mercy towards us. Charity's story is heartbreaking, yet by the end you find yourself crying tears of joy for her. A Passion Redeemed is definitely at the top of my list of favorites and it is most definitely a must-read! see less

'A Passion Redeemed' definitely redeemed Charity with me! I will tell you, had I known this book would have been focused on Charity when I finished 'A Passion Most Pure', I probably wouldn't have been anxiously awaiting this book. I love how Julie takes a character that I despised and turned her into a character that I now adore - I would have to say that is nothing short of AMAZING! In 'A Passion Most Pure' I can honestly say that I couldn't stand her [...] I couldn't imagine how I could possibly like this book, because of who the main character was going to be. But this book has definitely changed my view of Charity and, in fact, she in now my favorite character. 'A Passion Redeemed' is wonderful and has become my favorite novel! I highly recommend this book - but make sure you read 'A Passion Most Pure' first, otherwise you might spoil the story for yourself. see less
