I put this together by myself the other morning.The bookcase is sturdy and well made, labeled very clearly, and the hardware was arranged in small packets according to direction's steps. Take your time. The only beef I had was with the locking pin and lock devices. You drop a circular lock into a hole and its corresponding bolt is tapped into its hole. HOwever, sometimes they dont jibe, because the lock's holes are drilled too deeply. I would highly recommend after step three to tap in the bolt, put the pieces in contact, and THEN insert the locking hoobyjiggy thingamabob. This way, you can turn it and make it surround the bolt instead of blindly trying to put the bolt into the lock. Other than that, it's great. Enjoy see less

I bought the black my husband put all 3 pieces together in a couple hours. and he love it all. Great prices. The directions were clear and it took about a half an hour for me to put it together. It was packed well, so no damage. It was a cheap piece of furniture, so I think it is about worth what was paid. I wasn't looking for a shelf to last through time, just through childhood. I didn't expect hardwood. It is sturdy enough to hold books. Its biggest fault? On the carpet, it doesn't stand flat once books are loaded. It kinda sways forward so there is a bigger gap on the top then the bottom near the wall. I put a wall anchor in. Comes with one. and I feel better about it, but it still leans forward. I think my next step would be to put a little wedge of wood under the front of it. I dunno. I think if given the chance to repurchase, I would spend a little more to get a more stable one. see less

The quality is good- the only thing we encountered was having to adjust the legs a few times when assembling them to keep them from wobbling, but once finished they were sturdy. It's no more difficult than putting together LEGO's pay attention to the instructions, and it goes together fine. I wish I could upload a picture of how cute this chair is in the room that I am redoing! The print is even more irresistible that it looks online! It looks way more expensive than what I paid for it! As for the comfort, it's a slipper chair, not a club chair. It is not meant to be a lounge chair to kick back and watch tv in on a daily basis. Slipper chairs are simply not meant for this purpose, as is the reason that they are armless. The chair is fairly small, maybe even smaller than it appears in the picture. When I have extra guests over, it's the perfect addition to pull it in with the rest of my seating. I also can't complain about the quality. Do I think it will last for the next 20 years? No, but I'll be ready to redo by then. I do think it will serve me well for the next 5-10 years, which is really all I care about. I'm tired of paying a lot for a chair that I will only deliver to [...] before 10 years are up. Overall, I'm very satisfied! see less

The chair is adorable. The assembly was easy - after I found the legs - insert happy face. The legs are shipped in the seat bottom with the bottom lining closed with velcro. After reading the reviews on the legs getting loose, I assembled the legs by adding shims between the leg and the leg brace to make sure that there was no room for movement to make the legs eventually wobble. I haven't had the chair long enough to test that theory. see less

This chair is generously sized for a slipper chair and though it's not a super snuggly seat it's comfortable enough for guests. I was afraid that the blues would be too muted to be noticed but they are a tad stronger than they appear to be online - so the blues and greens are prefectly matched in intensity in real life. Super easy for this 68 year old to put together. Only problem turned out to be that the seat was too long to put where I had originally planned, but I found a place just as convenient if not better. I love it so much that I ordered two more chairs with the matching ottoman in the multi-colored leaves for my living room. Got the slipper chair today and the colors are perfect. I bought many of the Avington pieces and they all match perfectly! My delivery came in the rain and had been sitting for hours in the rain, but everything was packed really nicely and with all the styrofoam, everything inside was dry! I've had experience assembling furniture like this, so I did not need the instructions, but overall, you don't need anything more than a Phillips head screwdriver...everything else came in the box. The pieces are real wood, except if a piece has a back piece, which is that MDF, but it is not too flimsy...as a matter of fact, once it's screwed on, it is very durable and really helps to hold everything together. I rate the quality as 4 stars because I was missing a washer--- not cool. Luckily I had some in the garage so no harm done. It's a bit darker gray than it looks online-- not dove gray. We purchased this along with the Carson Media Stand in Espresso and two of the Carson 5 Shelf Bookcases. All of these items are well made and heavy. There was some light damage to a couple of the outside corners but the damage was easily covered with a brown Sharpie. The assembly takes a while. It took my husband and I about 2 hours to do all 4 pieces since there are dowells and screws to put everything together. We were especially impressed with the detail of the moulding on the tops of the units and on the shelves. We wound up purchasing a second Corner Bookcase to put on the other side of the Media Stand. Overall, I would purchase this brand again. It's a great value for the price paid. And Target's free shipping made it even better. see less

Chairs look just like in the picture -- sleek and stylish. They also feel very sturdy, and I don't worry about them not lasting. We've had them about 3 months now. The only annoying thing was that inserting the stoppers into the bottom of the legs was agonizing! They're a very tight fit, and there's no tool to help get the job done. My fingers were sore for days. I'd also advise to be careful when inserting those stoppers NOT to push the wood part of the chair up against something else, because we caused a small scratch doing that. My friend also uses his for his living TV because it takes up so little space and can store all his media stuff in baskets on the shelves so everything is not exposed. I LOVE these stools! They look exactly like the ones in the [...] catalog. They are sturdy and the seat is quite wide - even for those with a big fanny! They are coated with some type of polyurethane or some type of sealer on top, so they are not at all scratchy or uncomfortable, even in shorts. They look amazing with my new granite. The espresso color of the wood is nearly black and the height that some other reviewers were concerned about is about 1" shorter than i'd like it to be for a standard bar height but it is not an issue at all. When closed up it looks like a very clean, sleek piece of furniture, costing far more than what I actually paid. Simply attach four legs and a drawer knob and it is done! Putting the desk together was a breeze since most of the components are already assembled. The wood feels solid and the desk is very sturdy. The stain is a deep, brown reddish color. Its design more appealing than on the pictures on Target.com. It looks and feels more than the advertised price, and this is a great furniture to add to your living space, or small home office, on which you can put a desktop or laptop computer. I have a 27 inches MAC display on it and it fits perfectly. As other have said in the review section, if you are hesitating about this purchase, don't. I was so excited when this chair arrived at my house...that was until my husband put it together! I will start with the good...looked classy, material didn't feel cheap and the overall quality seemed great considering the price. But then my husband sat in it and I thought...he sure looks tiny in it, but he is 5' 9" in so naturally he would. I decided I would sit in it myself and even I looked like a giant in it! My legs hung off the foot recliner part and the back of the chair came up to about half of my actual back. It was simply not comfortable the way a recliner chair should be...and I'm only 5'3" so you know it is a tiny chair. I will say, Target was GREAT about taking it back. We put it back in the box, not put together because it was impossible to take apart, printed off the receipt and took it back to our local Target without any hassle at all. I bought one of these this morning, went to put it together this afternoon and had 2 right legs rather than one right and one left. So, I packed it back up, brought it back and got a new one this evening. Brought it home and went to put it together... One of the legs had a HUGE KNOT in the wood and right in the center of it was a hole for one of the cross-bars, key to the stability & safety of the product. The wood was jagged & split from one side of the leg to the opposite side. The wood was cracked about 1mm down into the wood. It seems this defect was noticed by the manufacturer because the wood was "touched up" with a red dye over this area, rather than the Dark Tobacco. I'm super disappointed and, quite frankly, annoyed. I'm returning the second one tomorrow morning and will search elsewhere. It's too bad because the one on display in the store is nice and this would have gone well with our table. So, word of caution, CHECK THE PRODUCT BEFORE PUTTING IT TOGETHER! see less

This is exactly as pictured! It is the perfect piece of furniture for m daughter's room, for her books and knick knacks. I bought many of the Avington pieces and they all match perfectly! My delivery came in the rain and had been sitting for hours in the rain, but everything was packed really nicely and with all the styrofoam, everything inside was dry! I've had experience assembling furniture like this, so I did not need the instructions, but overall, you don't need anything more than a Phillips head screwdriver...everything else came in the box. The pieces are real wood, except if a piece has a back piece, which is that MDF, but it is not too flimsy...as a matter of fact, once it's screwed on, it is very durable and really helps to hold everything together. I am very happy with my purchases! see less

For a DYI project I say its fairly easy for 1 person to accomplish. The instructions...HA! You have to follow the rudimentary line drawings. Just make sure you set the proper length of wooden dpwls in the proper holes which was the biggest pain. It was not very descriptive regarding this step and could leave you taking it apart to remedy this. One assembled, it looks very nice and sturdy. It would be a tremendous relief of concern if you do anchor it to the wall with the hardware I did find included - Even if you do not have off-spring running around. see less

Just purchased this TV stand. Instructions are very lacking. Just make sure the top and bottom arrows face toward you. This will be the front. I was able to put it together by myself. It took about 4 hrs since I had to take apart and redo. The only problem is the shelves are only 15 inchs wide, so my satalite box and DVD player do not fit inside. They should have made the drawers a little smaller to allow a wider shelf. see less

We have now had two of these chairs for several months and I can say that I am extremely pleased with the purchase. I can tell from the store sample that they scratch easily, but ours are still scratch-free, thought they would not be good if you have pets that use your furniture. The pleather is a little loud when you sit in them. There is a little puckering around some of the seams. But they really do look good and the padding in the cushions is great, plenty of give and not losing any of its bounceback. On a very tight budget, this is a piece of furniture that I can still feel good about owning. see less

We needed something to bring our TV up a few more inches. At first we considered building a box to set the TV on, but it wasn't going to match our Avington furniture. While browsing the other Avington pieces online, I came across this hutch. We took measurements and headed to Target to buy this piece. It was easy to assemble, and took us about 20 minutes. Thanks to another reviewer we knew to be extra careful to make sure that the finished edges were facing outwards before tightening the cam locks. We are using this piece on top of our Avington media stand, even though it was made for the Avington desk. I didn't like the look of the small adjustable shelves, so we left them out and put small baskets in the cubbyholes instead. All together with an Avington bookshelf on each side it almost looks like one wall unit. We are so pleased with our purchase, and can now see the TV from any seat in the room. see less
