I bought 2 of these lamps - one for each side of our bed. The assembly wasn't bad. Once I put in one of the metal rods, the rest were easy. They're a perfect size for a nightstand - not too big, yet the height of the lamp still enables space for tissues, books, even an 8x10 picture under the lampshade! This is a wonderful lamp for my living room. It is a medium sized lamp (smaller than many living room lamps) and fits perfectly where I need it. The color is a bit more reddish than I expected, but still fine. The lampshade was a bit tricky to set up, until I realized I had to bend the rods a bit to insert them then straighten them once all were inserted to achieve a balanced "bell" shape. This lamp was not what I expected it to be, it was much better!! I like it alot and definitely might consider getting another one for the bedroom. It looks really good on my entry way table which is black but this lamp you can't really tell that it is a dark brown color and it matches very well with the darker beige on the walls. see less

Was looking for a unique lamp that wasn't tacky and this is it. Lamp feels heavy but not overly so. Has great details in the owl and you have to touch it to find out it's not wood. The shade is nicer than I thought and the picture doesn't show it but on the top is a ball same color as owl that just makes this classy. Lamp is bright enough to read by but will not light the whole room. Packaging is messy though I agree but if you are on the fence my vote is yes! Was glad I read reviews almost talked myself out of buying. see less

I was a little worried when I read the reviews about the melted shade, so I looked closely at it when I went to the store. If you use a 10 watt (40 watt equivalent) CFL, there's no problem. They're smaller and much cooler than a standard 40 watt bulb. see less

Love these lamps. Lamps are over a year old, get used daily and still look brand new. The mica shade is beautiful and have received a lot of "Where did you get those?" from guests. Have not had any problems with them. They are used by my 11 yr old son and his friends regularly. Have never had the pull catch like the others. They were left on accidently while we went out of town for the weekend and we did not have any "burn" issues. Maybe the others put in bulbs over 40 watts? see less

I have to say, I was a little leary after reading a few reviews that were less than flattering. It's funny how you are more inclined to believe the bad, rather than the good. I really liked how these lamps looked, so I took the chance. When they arrived, ahead of schedule, my first concern was if they had reached me in good repair....check. Then I quickly looked them over to make sure they were well made....check. Finally, I assembled them and anxiously put them on their respective end tables to see if they were stylish....check. These lamps were everything I was hoping for, and more. They added the finishing touch to our living room and do double duty as a soft lighting source, and as art and decoration for our living quarters. Love them! see less

This is a fun lamp! I have it in a sitting area in my fitness room and it looks great! The colors are very neutral and will go with most any decor. I bought the "Buffet Lamp w/Cream Shade" a few months ago, and decided it was time to get a second one to match. However, unfortunately it is not the exact same lamp. It is now just a 4-sided, square shade, when it used to have diagonal edges at each corner. It's no big deal. It's still a beautiful lamp for the price. I'll just have to put the first one I bought somewhere else, and get another one of the new model to match it. I thought it best just to warn anyone who may be in the same situation. see less
