Sme reviews say it has sharp edges and loose screws. I went over this thing with a fine tooth comb. Every edge is smooth and rounded, sanded to perfection. The screws are fastened tight and it is a very substantial and solid toy. It enhances motor skills and I love using the alphabet and animal references when teaching my son. SO glad we did, we take it everywhere with us when he's going to need naptime or bedtime. The music is a wonderful mix of classic tunes, with a soft "bubbling water" sound in the background. The music lasts 5 minutes, and my baby learned to push it's tummy and turn it back on. ALSO NOTE inside the Seahorse is a switch to make it loud or quiet. If you think it's too loud, open up it's back and turn it to the quiet setting! The batteries are safe from baby because you need a screwdriver to open the back. You can make it sound like an acoustic or electric, or even a woofer hound. There are 22 songs. All in all, my son loves it, and after I realized how well designed it was, I couldn't pass it up. My son loves to play with these. He crawls around all the time and picks these up and throws them. He was 9m old when he got them and that was about the perfect age for him. His dad has sat forever throwing/rolling them back and forth with him. It surprises me how far and hard he can throw them for his age but they have stood up to all of that. My child has had no problems using it on any surface, hard wood, tile, and carpet. We have all three in our home and the popper works on all surfaces. Other reviews complaining about how it doesn't work on hardwoods - they are right. The amount of pressure needed to turn the wheels is hard for toddlers to achieve on hardwoods. However, in our house the adults push the popper and "chase" the toddlers with it, so its not an issue. I only gave 4 starts because I think it should have an expandable handle. I'm 5'8 and my back is [hurting] me from hunching over chasing toddlers all day with a popper! see less

At first he'd only take pieces off or dump the whole thing over, but now he likes to put them back on (in random order) and spin the pieces around. He especially likes the red pieces!My little guy is pretty rough on this toy, and a friend's kindergartener tried to stand on the wooden base -- but it's still holding up great. The paint has gotten chipped though, because of being chewed on.The 3 stacks and different shapes make this complicated, so when we get to working on stacking the shapes in order, I'll probably hide the non-circular pieces at first. This is also good for teaching colors.By the way, my little guy liked this so much that he hid one of the pieces where I've never been able to find it . . . but we still play with the rest. see less

My 8 month old daughter enjoys playing with her treasure chest and exploring how it works. She especially loves the little coins that come along with the chest. She loves hanging onto the coins and crawling around with them in her hand. As a mom, I absolutely love how this treasure chest plays music and makes other little sounds, but it isn't loud and annoying like so many other baby toys. Even though this toy is meant for babies, my 3 yr. old son loved playing with it, too, and of course, it is easier for him to put the coins in the slots than for my 8 month old daughter. My baby girl needs assistance to get the coins in the slots, but she loves holding them and doing a little dance to the music. She likes tapping on the colorful lights on the top as they play music. For christmas I got my 3 year old nephew the Innotab 2 and my 5 year old niece an android tablet. The android was broken by noon but the Innotab is still going strong. It has fallen and been pulled to the floor several times with no problems. Yes battery life is limited, but I purchased 2 sets of rechargeables at the same time and it is not a problem. And the upside is that I do not have to have him connected to a wall outlet while I try to recharge an internal battery. I added an SD card and put in age appropiate MP3s, Movies, and Videos. He no longer tries to grab his moms phone to play games on and his interest in TV has decreased. The only issue I had was with the camera was how dark images were. Opening the curtains or turning on some lights and the images are not so dark. Overall it is the smartest purchase I've made for any of the kids. It has no limits and the material can grow as he does. Now my only issue is keeping it out of the hands of the teenagers. see less

I bought this for my sons 5th birthday, and I bought the power cord to go with it, as I figured with any toy like this it would go through batteries like water, especially with my son, if it was going to be a toy he gravitated to.(I also bought batteries for when we are on the go) Thankfully, I bought the power cord and it was the last present he opened, This is a great toy, you can bring it out of the packaging, and just hand it over and they can start playing with it, instead of making them wait forever while you set it up. He had no problems figuring out how to work it, or how to get around with it. And the best thing was as soon as he went to bed, I was able to set it up for him and it had all of his information on it and it stored everything, so it wasn't like it erased it, and he had to start from the beginning of where he left off. Another great option is, I can watch his progress and it shows in great detail how he is doing, and if you have more then 1 child it will keep track of each child. The next thing I am going to be getting is the car charger, so I can save on the batteries, since we travel a lot. This has been the best purchase I have made in a very long time, when it has come to childrens electronics! see less

I recently purchased a leappad 2 in the States and brought it home to Italy where I live as an expat. My kids love the leap pad, but downloading new apps is a nightmare. First, you have to but the downloadable code to have a credit for making purchases (and its really hard to find them on the website). Since I have a US credit card I have to purchase the US download card, rather than a European one. Then, when I open my leap pad connect function, I have to change the country to the US for my download code to work (that took about 30 minutes to figure out). Once I finally get the code accepted I can purchase apps, but at least 80% of the apps are blocked because I am using a US credit from an Italian IP address. My kids are so frustrated that we can't get the apps they want. In short, while the unit is great, I would only recommend it in America - elsewhere it is too difficult to manage the downloads. see less
