Okay, I do love my Converse but the One Star from Target is my favorite! They are just a unique spin on the old classic canvas sneaker with the star cutout on the side - and that is my favorite part! I love that star! It's like a touch of walking patriotism!
Okay Target, it's time to bring back some red One Stars!!!
I have owned several high priced suede tennis shoes and these are much more comfortable. At this price I can buy multiple colors. They are made well, look great and a total steal at this price. If you don't need the big brand label, you will be totally happy with these.
I bought these because I could not find what I wanted. At work I sometimes walk through wet grass and puddles. I sprayed them with silicone and that worked well. They have been soaked several times and I have washed them--bleach water but no soap--a few times. They have held up well except the suede fuzz has come off, especially around the toe where the wet grass soaks the leather. I put a support footbed in them and that helped with comfort. There's no arch support, etc. They might work for skate shoes, but I don't skate. The tongue is padded and they feel like sneakers, not trainers. Like other reviewers said, good if you can't find what you really want.
We purchased these shoes for my husband at the Pittsburgh East Liberty Target before moving to NYC. The following is his review.
"These are lightweight, basic sneakers that are comfortable to wear and break in quickly. Unlike most sneakers, the fit runs true to size, instead of small. They're classic, basic sneakers that you can wear with jeans or other everyday wear."
My husband wears a size 12 men's in casual shoes, and was pleased to note that he has plenty of room in the size 12s to wear the shoes with athletic socks or add an insole.
We've been seeing the classic Converse All-Stars running for close to [$] a pair. That's too expensive for a pair of basic canvas sneakers, especially a style that's no longer made in the United States. The Converse One Stars are a much better value, at just under [$].
