This cool set completed my collection of the first wave of Lego Lotr sets! I plan to buy Orthanc and Wizard Battle soon, because they go with this set so well. Anyway, onto the set.
The Minifigures: The Orc Forge minifigures were amazing! You get Lurtz, 2 Mordor Orcs, and an Uruk-hai- with White Hand Armor! If you don't know, Lurtz is the first-born Uruk-hai. He is faster and stronger than any other. He also killed Boromir. Lurtz is exclusive to this set. In this set, Lurtz has no clothes, so you can give him armor. The Orcs are really cool, and have nice torso details. The White Hand Armor is really cool!
The Set: This set is detailed very well! The look of it is just right. It looks like it was messily put together by orcs underground. With this set, you can pretty much just go through the making of the armor and Uruk-hai step-by-step! The only problem I have with this set is that, to make a winch, you have to tie little knots around other things. I do not have a steady hand, so whenever this happens, it downplays my overall experience.
This set is sticker-free! If you have this set Iwould also buy Battle of Helm's Deep, Uruk-hai Army, Tower of Orthanc, and Wizard Battle for maximum play experience!

This set is a valuable part of your LOTR collection and goes well with Orthanc. I really like the set in its entirety and the fact it has movie accurate accessories, figures and play features.
Lurtz: He is an exclusive minifigure. Lurtz has a new torso covered in dirt and a new double sided head piece with the White hand of Saruman and a snarl. He carries a sword and shield and can wear armour too.
Uruk-hai: The regular Uruk-hai included in various LOTR sets. However he has the White hand on his helmet and has armour, a sword and a shield also bearing the White hand.
Mordor Orcs: One of the Orcs is bald and has a shovel. The second Orc is exclusive to this set because he has a rare Orc hairpiece. His accessory is a hammer.
The Forge itself is very detailed and has many objects that are seen in the movie. The Orc equipment includes an anvil and a blacksmith's forge which has spaces to hold the Uruk-hai swords. The main part of the set is the weapon construction area where you attach a basket full of silver bricks and use the winch to raise it. Then you can pour the bricks down the chute into the cauldron and place it on the furnace and push a brick in which lights the flames up. There is also an Uruk-hai birth pit where Uruks can be pulled out of which is also seen in the movie.
Here is my conclusion:
Pros: Figures, no stickers, forge, features.
Cons: No Saruman
Overall it is a great set in your LOTR collection.
This set looks awesome. The wooden beams and wheel like structure look very cool. This set however is more for collectors of LOTR than just lego fans and is more to top off a collection.
Pros: As usual the characters look awesome. I particularly like the Uruk Hai with the White hand Helmet and shield. Lurtz legs however should have been worked on. The Mordor orcs look very cool.
The playability of this set is awesome. You can put armor and shields on the anvil, use the fire on the ingots and wench it up with the wheel.
Cons: Where dahell is Saruman this is Orthanc.
I bought this set as one of my first LO TR set. This was when the theme started. It is a nice small set that gets you gandalf and shire Frodo. The clincher for me was the rearing horse and the book and fireworks.Overall this was a good buy and i am sad to see it go the way to retirement.
"A wizard is never late, Frodo Baggins. Nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to!" Ever since I watched that scene and heard that line, I was suprised that LEGO had made that scene into a set!
What's awesome in this set:
-You get Gandalf in a small set for a cheap price, and Frodo in his Shire clothing is exclusive to this set
-The snake firework is in the carriage, and that's awesome
I have only one thing I found in this eat that wasn't awesome:
-Seating in the carriage is too small to fit both Gandalf and Frodo like in the movie!
So basically, this is one of my favourite sets from LOTR! Every die-hard LOTR fan should get this set before it retires!
Even though this set is small, it is very cool, I like the new horse design and Gandalf and Frodo are very nicely done, the red snake is a very nice representation of the dragon firework, and I really liked all of the other accessories. So it is a very good set, and I would definitely recommend it to a friend, great job Lego.
