I noticed on the box it said this base must be used with a table so I've had no issues with it tipping over. It has survived well with the wind. Purchased this for a 9 ft umbrella. First day I tried it there was a slight breeze, but not at all what you would call windy. My granddaughter was visiting and we were out on the patio. The breeze made the base rock badly and didn't take much for it to fall completely over on the patio, taking out one of my newly planted bushes, and missing the baby by only a few inches. We had to have someone actually hold the base down for the rest of the the time we were outside. I can't imagine how it would be if it was actually a little windy. I am returning it and looking for a more stable base. see less

I bought this umbrella after my old one had just got worn out by the weather. It was a very heavy duty steel umbrella. These are hard to find now days without paying a fortune. I looked and looked and they are all made cheap and plastic. And then I found this one and it is awesome. The fabric is heavty duty, the turn handle is heavy duty. I hope it lasts as long as my old one did. see less

My daughter lives at our neighborhood pool, but it gets so hot and there's not a lot of shade. This is one of the few umbrellas I've found with 'feet'--most of them are the stab-in-the-ground type. People kept asking where I got it and I told them I ordered it from Target online. It's also good for early fall soccer when it's still really hot outside. The cup-holders are a nice bonus. see less

Our town pool had to rip out all their trees, so we purchased this umbrella at the end of June. It is lightweight, and easy to set up. We are using it to cover 2 of us in sandchairs, and it works. It's easily ten degrees cooler under it. At least 8 people have stopped by to ask us where we bought it. There is now a colony of red umbrellas at the pool. However, we do not leave it up when we are not seated, as the wind can take it and blow it over, since we can not use the ground anchors which did come with it. Definitely a keeper for portable shade. see less

After we had to take down one of our beloved trees that provided the shade to our patio, I needed an umbrella to provide our shade. I didn't want to spend a lot, but wanted something elegant. The umbrella came quickly, was a snap to put together, and looked really pretty for the price. We used it the first day with no problem, but the second day we could not get it to close. This was not good since we were about to get thunderstorms with high winds, and while trying to close it, it flew away down our yard. We had to actually cut the pulley cord in order to close it! I sent it back and am waiting for my refund. see less

The patio umbrella was precisely the one we wanted for our pool patio, and it is difficult to buy white umbrellas these days. So we ordered two of them. They were shipped by UPS and arrived in disgraceful condition. Both boxes were badly mangled and apparently re-taped to salvage them. One box when opened revealed missing parts and the upper pole of the umbrella was seriously bent. Either Target shipped mangled goods or UPS was responsible. I received this umbrella last week and it is perfect for my 9X11 deck and provides shade for everyone sitting at my table. It seems really well made and durable, but a row of lights does not work. I'm debating whether to send it back since it provides plenty of light without that row- it's more of an annoyance to pay for a brand new umbrella and not have it work right. Aside from that though, it's really nice and would be a great value -if everything worked. Also, it's more of a cobalt color than navy, which actually works better with my decor. see less

Bought 2 of these for my decks to replace a nearly identical one that lasted 3 years (also from Target). No it is not real wood, but it was only[....]. I compared many umbrellas before purchasing this one and you will not find a similar umbrella for this price. If you are looking for better quality, you need to look i[.....] and up price ranges - I am not convinced these more expensive umbrellas would last any longer, all umbrellas will fade over time and require replacing. I have noticed reviews for other colors complaining that the umbrella blows around - we have them in heavy cement umbrella stands, the weight of the stand matters. We live on the coast and it is windy here, I expect these umbrellas to last us 2-3 years, just like our last one did. see less

I bought 2 of these to replace a 3 year old umbrella, also from Target. It is almost identical and I expect the new ones to last 2-3 years as well. It is a [...] umbrella and that should be remembered when considering its quality. It is similar to those priced in the low [...] at the other big boxes. To get a higher quality, you will need to spend more[...] umbrella is going to fade in 2-3 years. We live at the coast and have the umbrellas in heavy cement stands. We do not have trouble with them blowing around and they are very easy to open and close depending on the weather. The yellow is a nice bright daffodil yellow. see less

We are very pleased with this deck umbrella. It goes well with our bronzed finish patio furniture, and the lights so far are working great. It looks nice, and we haven't experienced any problems with the crank or with the umbrella bending, despite thunderstorms and high winds (though we have made sure to close it when we're not using it). I live on the lake where it is very windy and this umbrella hasn't failed us yet. The color and fabric is great, as is the finish on the umbrella pole. The umbrella is surprisingly very lightweight, but has withstanded some heavy wind. The lights are nice, although I will only be using the all-on setting. I found the other 2 settings to be too-techno/strobe light like. It would be nice if there was a "twinkling" setting, as I would use it. The umbrella does not stay gathered unless you tie the piece of umbrella ribbon around it. i wish this was a more permanent part of the umbrella sewn on and with a snap on the other end. Otherwise, I have to tie it around the umbrella stand when the umbrella is open so I don't lose the ribbon. Otherwise, great price/great umbrella. see less

I have had this umbrella for over a year (maybe closer to two years) and it is awesome! It is durable and the lights work wonderfully. I have never had any problems with the crank or the lights. They also blink, strobe or stay solid which was a cool feature I wasn't aware of when I bought it. Overall great purchase! see less

I like this umbrella but it was not quite what I was expecting. The color is great and goes well with the outdoor furniture I bought from Target. The umbrella was slightly discolored in certain areas but it was not discolored everywhere and not worth the time to ship it back because it will probably fade due to sun anyway. I believe the fading was because I bought at the end of summer and the item was sitting in the box for so long. The material is also not as thick as the last umbrella I had which lasted almost 8 years, therefore I do not think I will get the same durability as I did with the last umbrella. With this said, It is a nice looking umbrella, I love the pulley system to raise the umbrella-works great, and I figured I got exactly what I should have for the price of the umbrella. I would recommend this umbrella, especially if you think you would want to change the color in a few summers because I am expecting it to not last for many years-but you never know..... see less

When we received this item the pole was so maligned that we were unable to even open the umbrella. We had to use a hammer to get it over the bumps in the pole. Similar to other users, the base part where the "arms" gather was falling apart - before the hammer. The metal wiring wasn't tight enough to keep the bases of the "arms" in place. The top knob was also bent, but that was the least of our worries. Our current plan is to try and return the item and seek out a different model with an aluminum shaft. see less

This was the first purchase I had made from Target online. I had been looking at other stores and sites for a solar umbrella for awhile, and when I found this one I had to order it. I was not disappointed. The umbrella is of good quality, very heavy duty. The fabric is also of good quality and durable. The solar lights are absolutely beautiful. They send just the right amount of light that doesnt overpower or are too weak. The lantern style light on the pole is a very classy touch. I have gotten multiple compliments on this umbrella and have no regrets on this purchase. If you are looking for a solar umbrella I highly recommend this one. see less

does not repel water in the least. it literally leaks through the fabric. "teak" pole cracked within weeks. no tie to keep closed. ribs had problems within 2 months. it didn't last the season. if you're hoping for sun or weather protection, you'd better live in southern California, away from the coast. see less

i received this item in the mail and it was cracked, so i had to return it. target.com was so kind to replace it for me, and the replacement is fine. it is very heavy, but you can rest assured that you will not have umbrellas flying away or falling down with this base. see less
