Great ice, hard maintenance, finiky sensors
So I really like the ice. But maintenance on this thing is ridiculous. Daily vinegar or one hour cleaning per week to avoid mold build up?! If you plan to use this only for parties and drain it fully most of the time maybe that is fine. You can spend an hour afterwards doing the clean cycle and letting it sit. But daily use is probably not what this is meant for. Also, you definitely need space by your sink for this. It requires draining three times for the full recommended clean cycle. And, as others mentioned, the plug is bad design. Be very careful, you could end up with water damage really fast. That plug even when push hard into slots can blow out during cleaning cycles in particular so you need to babysit this thing. Finally, the water drawer - the sensor sucks so you may need to push it in and out more than once. Also the sensor is slow so you might think it is running but actually 2 min into making ice or cleaning a red error goes on. It needs you to remove and reinsert the tray again. All this said, I do like the little nugget ice and I guess I hope with all this cleaning it will be squeaky clean ice maker but I’m a little concerned how long I’ll be willing to keep up on all this disinfection. I don’t know if the other makers are just covering up this fact and trying to look easier (until your ice starts to have a pink hue) or this particular design has issues. But I wish there was a better cleaning cycle and plug.
